Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a small walled town in Provence, alive with art and romance

#July Travel Support Fund Saint-Paul-de-Vence is a place that can be found just a short distance from Nice, but the moment you enter the town, a completely different world unfolds. The stone walls and alleyways seem to have stayed in the Middle Ages, and each step was a picturesque scene. Small galleries and workshops were naturally located in the winding alleyways. Various works of art, such as glassworks, ceramics, and paintings, were hidden in each alley, so it was enjoyable just to walk around. It wasn’t for nothing that Chagall, Picasso, and Matisse loved this town and were inspired by it. The Fondation Magh Museum of Art was the space that best displayed the artistic atmosphere of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Nature and architecture were in harmony, and the sculptures in the outdoor garden felt like part of the landscape. The hills overlooking the museum and the Mediterranean Sea in the distance were breathtakingly beautiful. When I stood on the observation deck at the end of the town, I could see Nice and the Mediterranean Sea at a glance. The moment I looked out with the warm Provençal breeze was truly peaceful. Spending time slowly with rosé wine and cheese at a small cafe located under the city walls was also a charm that could only be felt in this town. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is not fancy, but it is the perfect town to feel the emotion while walking slowly.
