Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a medieval town alive with art and romance

#July Travel Support Fund Saint-Paul-de-Vence was a small town on a hill where time passed slowly, just a short distance from Nice. After passing through the entrance surrounded by walls, stone alleys and stairs continued, and travelers felt as if they had entered the Middle Ages. There were small galleries, workshops, and ateliers hidden here and there in the alleys, so it was fun just to walk around as if taking a walk. Artworks and old signs were hung naturally on the walls, and flowers blooming in each window added to the warm atmosphere of the town. I could feel why artists like Chagall, Picasso, and Matisse loved this place. The Fondation Maggh Museum was a must-see. The architecture blended in with nature, and the sculptures displayed in the outdoor garden were as if they were part of the landscape. The hills and the Mediterranean Sea spread out in the distance, seen from the museum, were more beautiful than a painting. From the observation deck at the end of the town, Nice and the sea were spread out at a glance. The moment I looked out with the warm Provençal breeze was truly peaceful. Spending time slowly with rosé wine and cheese at a small cafe under the castle walls also became a special memory of this place. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is a town that is better suited to walking slowly and staying rather than quickly looking around and passing by.
