Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a small town on a hill where art and time stay

#July Travel Support Fund Saint-Paul-de-Vence was a hidden gem of a village in Provence, France, just a short trip from Nice. Passing through a small entrance surrounded by walls, cobblestone streets and alleys lead to a quiet atmosphere that feels like going back to the Middle Ages. As you walk through the narrow, winding alleys, you will find ateliers, galleries, and simple workshops hidden here and there. Flowers blooming in every window and old signs make the village itself look like a work of art. It had such a special feel that it was easy to think of artists like Chagall, Matisse, and Picasso getting inspiration from here. The Fondation Magh Museum was a must-visit attraction. The works of famous artists were exhibited in a space where nature and architecture coexisted, and the sculptures placed in the outdoor garden felt like they were one with the landscape. The hills overlooking the museum and the Mediterranean Sea in the distance were breathtakingly beautiful. From the observation deck at the end of the village, you could see Nice and the sea at a glance. The view while feeling the warm Provençal breeze was healing in itself. Just sitting in a small cafe and slowly spending time tasting rosé wine and cheese was perfect. Saint-Paul-de-Vence was not a tourist destination, but a town where ‘staying’ was a trip.
