Safety first when traveling alone Let me briefly share some important tips for traveling in Europe! ① Anti-Theft Guide A must-mention precaution for European travel – France is notorious for pickpockets. Although Nice is relatively safe, you still need to stay vigilant. Here's my personal anti-theft guide for Europe: 1- Always wear your bag in front! No matter what kind of bag, keep it in front of you. Hold it tight on public transport, especially during crowded boarding/alighting times! 2- Phone straps recommended! I keep my phone strapped to my wrist while holding it tight, while my husband attaches his phone strap to his chest bag with the phone in the back pocket. 3- Stay alert and avoid engaging with strangers. Thieves often work in teams with someone distracting you – don't fall for it! Watch out for people trying to separate groups – they're definitely thieves! Always secure your belongings first. 4- Separate valuables. Don't keep all cash and cards in one wallet. Distribute them in hidden compartments. A friend once lost everything when their single wallet was stolen. 5- Since we didn't shop for tax refunds, I left my passport locked in the hotel safe or my secured luggage – never carried it out. Very safe this way. Don't worry too much though. Overall, Nice, Menton, and Monaco are quite safe, with Monaco being one of Europe's safest countries. ② About Internet Monaco isn't part of the EU. If you have an EU SIM card like me, remember to turn off mobile data in Monaco to avoid charges. ③ Currency & Language Both France and Monaco use Euros. Cards work everywhere, but carrying some cash is wise. While French is the main language, English works fine in tourist areas.
