Yang Mausoleum

#chinatravel We visited Yang Mausoleum during our trip and were genuinely impressed by how well it preserved the spirit of the Han Dynasty. The site is the burial place of Emperor Jing and Empress Wang, and it’s surrounded by subtle yet vast mounds that blend beautifully into the natural landscape. What made this site truly memorable was the underground museum, where we got to view life-sized pottery figurines and relics through a glass walkway built right above the excavation site. It felt like walking directly through history, seeing the buried formations exactly where they were found. Unlike many busier attractions, the atmosphere here was calm and reflective, giving us space to take everything in at our own pace. We were especially intrigued by how the figurines reflected a shift in imperial ideology—more modest and human-like than earlier periods. If you’re someone who appreciates quiet, immersive historical experiences, we would definitely recommend making time for Yang Mausoleum. It’s just outside of Xian and makes for a meaningful half-day visit. #travel #china
