The wooden furniture paired with warm yellow lighting, the greenery and vintage decorations at the entrance exude gentleness, and the Nanjing specialty snacks handed over by the front desk lady instantly dispel travel fatigue. The public area is designed like a living room at home, with bookshelves full of travel picture books and Nanjing guides. The cushions on the sofa are soft and cozy; sitting here in the afternoon to drink tea and bask in the sun is even more comfortable than visiting tourist spots. The "Wutongyu" room I stayed in was a delightful surprise! It features a loft design with a small balcony; the downstairs is a leisure area, and upstairs is the bedroom. The bedding is so soft that once you lie down, you don’t want to get up. There are USB charging ports and a small night light by the bed, full of thoughtful details. My favorite part is the balcony, furnished with rattan table and chairs. In the early morning, you can hear the birdsong of old Nanjing, and in the evening, watch the sunset filtering through the wutong leaves. Every snapshot is a healing masterpiece. The location is truly unbeatable! It’s only a 5-minute walk to Shanghai Road subway station, with Line 3 going directly to Confucius Temple and Presidential Palace, and just two stops to the Xinjiekou shopping district. The guesthouse is surrounded by many hidden gem shops: turn left out the door to an old noodle shop where the pig tripe noodles taste even more authentic than popular spots; turn right to a café that locals keep secret, with a super smooth dirty coffee; and at night, stroll to Nanhu Night Market to enjoy Jinling egg burgers and plum blossom cakes nonstop. The guesthouse’s thoughtful service really hit the spot for this detail lover: a free hand-drawn map of Nanjing marks off-the-beaten-path spots, more useful than navigation apps; the morning self-service breakfast includes Nanjing’s signature duck blood vermicelli soup, with freshly cooked broth that’s incredibly flavorful; and when returning at night, I found warm milk placed by the bedside, with a heater ready for cold nights, making the stay feel even more reassuring than home. During my days in Nanjing, I explored the city every day and returned to this warm guesthouse at night, like coming back to a temporary home. It lacks the standardized coldness of chain hotels but has the attentive care of a hostess.
