Family Adventures in the Heart of Mexico City

Traveling with kids is always a journey full of surprises — and for our family, with an Egyptian dad, a Mexican mom, and two curious kids, our recent trip to Mexico City was a beautiful blend of culture, discovery, and fun. It wasn’t just a vacation — it was a chance for our children to connect more deeply with their roots, experience new things, and enjoy one of the most exciting cities in Latin America. 🏨 Sheraton Maria Isabel – Central, Safe, and Welcoming We chose to stay at the Sheraton Maria Isabel, located right in front of the famous Ángel de la Independencia on Paseo de la Reforma. The location was ideal — close to museums, parks, restaurants, and family attractions. The hotel staff was welcoming, especially with the kids, and we enjoyed the spacious room, though it’s fair to say that the furniture was a bit dated and the bathroom floor in our room was damaged — something the hotel should definitely improve. That said, the room was clean and quiet, and it gave us the comfort we needed at the end of each busy day. 🥞 Breakfast with a View We started each morning with a generous breakfast buffet, full of Mexican classics like chilaquiles and tamales, alongside kid-friendly options like pancakes and cereal. Eating with a view of Reforma made it even better! Our Favorite Family-Friendly Highlights 🧒 Kidzania (Santa Fe) This was hands-down one of the best parts of the trip for the kids! Kidzania is a mini city where children can explore real-world professions — our kids became firefighters, doctors, chefs, and even pilots. It was fun, educational, and incredibly well-organized. As parents, we loved watching them learn and explore independently in a safe environment. 🐾 Chapultepec Zoo The zoo is located inside Chapultepec Park, just a short ride from the hotel. It was free to enter, and the kids were thrilled to see animals like pandas, lions, giraffes, and jaguars. It’s a great outing that doesn’t break the budget. 🏛️ Museo Nacional de Antropología One of the most important museums in Latin America — and a great way for our children to learn about their Mexican heritage. The museum is huge, but we focused on the Aztec and Mayan exhibits. The scale of the stone sculptures amazed them, and we had great conversations afterward about ancient civilizations (including some comparisons with Egyptian history!). While the Sheraton could improve some room conditions, its unbeatable location and kind staff made it a solid base for our family trip. Mexico City stole our hearts and we can’t wait to come back. #mexicocitywithkids #kidzaniacdmx #familytravel #sheratonmariaisabel #multiculturalfamily #tripcomblog #chapultepeczoo #museoantropologia #couplestrip #travel #staycation
