The Matterhorn in Switzerland

The Matterhorn (German: Matterhorn, German pronunciation, Italian: Cervino, French: Cervin), also known as Mount Cervino, is one of the most famous peaks in the Alps. The Matterhorn is located on the border between Switzerland and Italy, near the Swiss town of Zermatt in the canton of Valais and the Italian town of Breuil-Cervinia in the Aosta Valley region. The name Matterhorn is derived from the German words 'Matt' (meaning meadow) and 'Horn' (meaning horn, or a peak shaped like a horn).
