My recent exploration took me through the charming streets of Sannenzaka, the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and the mesmerizing Fushimi Inari-taisha. Sannenzaka & Kiyomizu-dera: Timeless Beauty Starting at Sannenzaka (三年坂), you're immediately transported back in time. This charming, sloping stone pathway is lined with traditional wooden houses, quaint shops selling local crafts and sweets, and inviting tea houses. It's the perfect prelude to Kiyomizu-dera Temple (清水寺). Kiyomizu-dera, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for its magnificent wooden stage that juts out from the main hall, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Kyoto. Built without a single nail, it's an architectural marvel. The temple grounds also feature the Otowa Waterfall, where visitors can drink from three separate streams, each believed to grant a different blessing. Fushimi Inari-taisha: The Path of a Thousand Torii Gates A visit to Kyoto wouldn't be complete without experiencing Fushimi Inari-taisha (伏见稻荷大社). This vibrant Shinto shrine is renowned for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that wind their way up the sacred Mount Inari.
