#summervacay Gili Air truly stands out as one of the most rewarding and beautiful islands I've ever visited! From its shores, you can even see the majestic Mount Rinjani across the water. The boat ride over was stunning, with a crystal-clear, "glassy sea" reflecting the drifting clouds above. Every evening brought spectacular sunsets, painting the sky with fiery colors, and at night, the stars were countless. This island feels less commercialized than others, with many local residents, villages, and temples. It's incredibly peaceful and relaxing, and you'll find fewer Asian tourists compared to the predominantly Western visitors (though I haven't been to Gili Trawangan or Meno, so I can't compare directly). Getting There I traveled to Gili Air from Bangsal Port, which offers public, fast boat, and private boat options. I spent quite some time looking for the fast boat ticket counter (priced at 85,000 IDR) but couldn't find it, so I reluctantly took a private boat for 100,000 IDR. Buying a return ticket was much easier, and the price list was clearly displayed (see P8). Getting Around the Island Island transportation mainly consists of bicycles, electric scooters, or horse-drawn carts. The island isn't huge, but some of the dirt roads can be quite challenging to navigate, and there are a lot of bugs, so remember to bring insect repellent! Activities: Diving into the Gili Air Experience Snorkeling and Diving: You can typically join a shared boat tour with about twenty people for around 150,000 IDR per person. These tours usually last 3-4 hours and circle Gili Trawangan, Meno, and Air, offering chances to see sea turtles, vibrant corals, and underwater sculptures. If you're with a larger group, chartering a private boat for about 900,000 IDR per boat is a cost-effective option.
