Friends! I just got back from Qingdao and can't wait to share with you! Although I was worried after being misled by my friends' posts, this family trip was truly amazing! 👶🏻💖 ⚠ First, the "downsides": The cherry blossom season was so crowded that the subway had to limit passenger flow (but the special cherry blossom train was breathtakingly beautiful!). Climbing Laoshan Mountain was tiring (but seeing the azaleas all over the mountain on the way down was instantly healing!). The snacks at the scenic spots were pricey (bringing your own snacks is the wise choice!). But compared to the beautiful scenery, these are nothing! 🔥 ✨【Must-visit itinerary with kids】✨ Day 1⃣ Travel through a fairy tale on the subway's cherry blossom train Take Line 11 from DaLao Station to Bei Jiu Shui, the train windows are like moving picture frames! The kids were glued to the window counting cherry blossom trees 🌳, and when we arrived, we went straight to Cherry Valley to pick cherries and experience "cherry blossom freedom"! (Secret tip: Enjoying the cherry blossoms for free from the subway is much better than buying tickets!) Day 2⃣ A day trip through ancient times In the morning, we took Hanfu photos at Baihua Park, and the kids, dressed in rented Hanfu, chased butterflies 🦋. In the afternoon, we found handmade hairpins at the Shi Mei An Plum Blossom Market, and in the evening, we watched the jade orchid night lights at Taiqing Palace. #Park time, make a day of it. The Zhongahan Park, situated in Qingdao, is beautiful throughout the year, yes, even during the winter months. On this fairly cold winters day, we visited the park and the surrounding attractions. The views from the park, are magnificent, especially when the sunlight compliments the moment. There is ample seating space around the park, ranging from wooden park benches, to concrete table and chair sets. Facilities are well kept, and restrooms are redely available, throughout the park. This is a peaceful and tranquil environment, the ideal place to go to, if you want to enjoy some peace and quite. Asside from the geese and other bird life, there is no noice at all. Although it was winter, the tree leaves still looked just as colourful as during Autumn.

There is a war history museum and a cannon site and a bunker on a small mountain across from the Zhongshan Park Zoo. If you bring your passport, you can visit for free. You can see the history in order, starting with the German invasion, the Japanese colonial period, the failure of the democracy movement, etc. You can also see the history of May Fourth Square here. I could visit five beautiful parks in the last day because they are close to each other. I walked more than 30 km that day. Providing some information about them: Zhongshan park: largest and oldest park in Qingdao City. It contains more than 100,000 plants and over 360 species including Kentucky coffee trees, oak trees, medicinal magnolia barks and some foreign species that are rare in China. Jingshan park (Qingdao Mountain park, Qingdao Hill Forts Park, Qingdao fortress hill). It's a historical park: it contains the ruins of an underground fortifications constructed by Germans. ZhanShan Park’s Botanical Garden: It contains many medical plants and different special gardens. TaiPingShan Park: It's a forest. The highlight is to hike up to the TV Tower. BaiHua Park & Garden (hundred flower garden): This small but beautiful garden has evergreen trees, shade grass, and abundant flowers. In 1995, twenty sculptures of famous Chinese Scholars, writers, and inventors were strategically placed around the park. Freshly married couples go there to take pictures. Signal hill park, Xinhaoshan park: It was a signal station for directing ships. It has lush vegetation and beautiful panoramic view. 1.day: My accommodation was close to the Qingdao Olimpic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Area so my approach was simple: I went there and turned right, walked on the Qingdao Seaside Scenic area visiting everything nearby beaches, parks, sculpture gardens then I continued in Qingdao city center, Zhongshan road, Cathedral etc. finished with Signal Hill Park. It was 30 km walk. (I use step counter.) I took the metro at Xinhaoshan to go back to the hotel. 2. day: I went again to the seashore but now I turned left and walked on the Laoshan Scenic Area visiting again nearby beaches, parks everything what I could. It was 25 km walk. I took the metro at Laoshan Convention Center to come back. 3. day: I walked to the botanical garden and visited every parks nearby. (See my other post about them). It was 30 km walk. I took the metro back at Zhongshan Park. Accomodation: Whatever you prefer but it should be close to the beaches. Restaurant: There was a Yuexikelai supermarket near the cathedral where you can find a self service restaurant, there are prepared meals or the staff can prepare something for you from the available ingredients. It's not overpriced. Tips: Wear sunhat, long-sleeved T-shirt for protection against the UV radiation. bring water, some snacks. (You can find hot drinking water in Qingdao Seaside Scenic Area at toilets but you need scan QR code. You can find hot and cold drinking water in Laoshan Scenic Area at some toilets, one of them at Flora Sea Cafe). I saw only vending machines at the park entrances. #travel #beaches #park

Zhongshan Park is the largest comprehensive park in Qingdao, featuring nearly 170 species of plants and trees from around the world. Among them, the 20,000 cherry blossom trees transplanted from Japan are the most distinctive. Right in front of the main entrance lies the famous Cherry Blossom Avenue, a stunning cherry blossom corridor. Every mid-April (depending on the annual blooming period), the park hosts its annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The light pink single-petal cherry blossoms and pale red double-petal cherry blossoms bloom on the branches, complemented by the surrounding white pear blossoms, deep pink peach blossoms, and the later-introduced Dutch tulips, which bloom in large clusters, adding even more charm to the park. Then, follow the sign and the sound of flowing water to find this metasequoia forest and the hidden "Fairy Wooden Cottage" – the Forest Reading Room. • Unique experience: This is Qingdao's first jungle book café located in the city center, featuring camping-style decor with natural wood-colored tables and chairs, full of rustic charm. Inside, books are categorized neatly, accompanied by warm yellow lighting, the aroma of coffee, and beautiful music. Outside, there are many artistic decorations, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows bring the greenery indoors, making it perfect for photos and leisurely moments. Laoshan Fairy Café – A Dreamy Wonderland at the Foot of Laoshan Mountain • Address: Located in the Laoshan area. • How to get there: It's recommended to drive there. There are parking spaces in the courtyard, but you need to call to have the gate opened. • Unique experience: The café is filled with various ancient trinkets, creating a mysterious atmosphere as if they were treasures collected by fairies. Sitting by the window, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Laoshan's beautiful scenery. The charge is 98 RMB per person, including a drink, making it ideal for visitors who prefer tranquility and unique experiences. Flower Valley, a name full of poetry. This was my first time accurately finding this valley blooming with flowers. To be more precise, this was a quarry decades ago—a large pit dug beneath the cliffs, now filled with vibrant flowers and plants. It's a great idea for hiking, fitness, oxygen-rich air, flower appreciation, and environmental beautification. On a cloudy summer day before the rain, the air was fresh, with a gentle breeze and white butterflies dancing gracefully under the green shade. Location: Enter through the main gate of Zhongshan Park, walk straight, turn right onto the Double Cherry Blossom Avenue, and continue uphill. The hill is neither high nor steep.
