I was attracted by the colourful mural arts in Kampung Ketandan, Surabaya as I took a walking tour around this village. I realised all villagers will push their motorcycles while entering the lane along this village. This made the village a bit peaceful and free from unnecessary noises. #kampungketandan #surabaya #muralart

Walking tour is always the best experience to explore how the local Indonesian living their daily life in Kampung Lawas just right across the street opposite of Varna Culture Hotel. I spoke Malay with the local "Tante" or aunt in Indonesian language and they can understand me. Hence, we had lots of laughters chatting about the differences between Indonesia and Malaysia. I fell in love with the people in Surabaya because of their friendliness. It made me feel at home. #surabaya #kampunglawas #tanteindonesia

On 20th June 2025, I stepped out from Varna Culture Hotel and took a walk around Kampung Ketandan in Surabaya. I saw villagers and family members from the groom side moving wedding gifts consisted of cupboard, cosmetics, toileterries, food and cash into a small lorry and to be sent over to the bride's house. The groom's uncle invited me and my sis to join their wedding. But we turned down his invitation as we had other plan that day. After all, it's an unforgettable memory for us for witnessing the local wedding and being able to communicate with the locals with Malay language.
