Located in the heart of the city, Tianfu Square is a massive square with a stream of tourists everyday. The flowers in this square are well maintained and super clean. There are a lot of security guards as well so expect that there will be security checks when entering the square. When it is not busy, security checks are not that strict but when it is during holidays then security checks are a must. The square is surrounded with skyscrapers and the famous statue of Mao. There is also a shopping center under the square so you can go shopping afterwards. There are also snack shops and restaurants. With the metro stop underneath, this square is really convenient to visit. Metro Stop: Line 1 and 2 Tianfu Square Entrance fee: Free Best time to visit: anytime of the day. The moment I entered, the scent of freshly grilled lamb skewers and warm naan greeted me. 🍢 I tried authentic halal street food like beef noodles, lamb skewers, and sweet Xinjiang-style pastries — everything was rich in flavour and so comforting. The area may be small, but it offers a taste of diversity that adds colour to the heart of the city. 🕌 There’s also a modest mosque and halal butcher shops tucked between the eateries. It’s not touristy, but that’s exactly what makes it feel so genuine and special. Tianfu Square, in the heart of downtown Chengdu, is a close neighbor of the hotel, just steps away. I checked in to the Chengdu JW Marriott Hotel and chose one afternoon to take a peaceful nap. Afterward, I strolled to the Chengdu Museum next to Tianfu Square and leisurely spent two hours there. This museum, with a history of over fifty years, not only has permanent exhibitions on Chengdu's history and culture but also hosts many high-quality temporary and special exhibitions. Visiting museums is truly fascinating; history is fleeting, yet it seems there's always more to explore. If you're staying at the hotel, a visit to the Chengdu Museum is one of the best ways to pass the time. 1. Perhaps it was perfect timing, but after leaving the museum and returning to the hotel for a short rest, I went to the Executive Lounge to enjoy happy hour. As night fell over the city and the lights came on, this exclusive space for guests with executive privileges perfectly captured the bustling cityscape, offering a bird's-eye view of Tianfu Square. I prefer a quiet breakfast atmosphere, so I had breakfast in the lounge every day during my stay. It was a streamlined yet abundant selection, with a dedicated noodle station, small but well-equipped, where the chef prepared made-to-order noodles for guests. The steam rising from the bowls added a touch of warmth to the hotel's dining experience. Don't forget, the hotel also offers a delightful afternoon tea. 2. If you're exploring the surrounding area in the morning, you can choose to return to the hotel's Chinese restaurant, "Man Ho," for lunch. This is a signature Chinese restaurant of the Marriott Group, specializing in Cantonese cuisine. The Chengdu branch, of course, also offers authentic and local Sichuan dishes. Perhaps to cater to the dining needs of both business and leisure travelers, and to stay competitive with local restaurants, the prices here are relatively affordable, while the quality of the food remains consistently high. 3. To provide convenient dining options for white-collar workers in nearby office buildings, and to cater to business travelers' love for Cantonese dim sum, the hotel offers a newly upgraded dim sum buffet. From cheung fun, har gow, and char siu bao to siu mai, chicken feet, and water chestnut cake, there are over eighty kinds of dim sum, all made to order and all-you-can-eat. This buffet is priced at an attractive 128 yuan. 4. The hotel also has an all-day dining restaurant, "Flavor," which offers à la carte and buffet dinners. The restaurant space isn't particularly large, but during the buffet, a dazzling array of delicacies is presented in a clean, bright, American-style setting, exuding refinement and style. I've already scoped out the best seats for you: the row of tables by the floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a view of the glittering Tianfu Square at night. The dazzling nightscape is an essential complement to a delicious meal, along with red and white wines to enhance the experience. 5. Most of the hotel's guest rooms, including the executive suite I stayed in, also offer views of Tianfu Square. Outside the window was the bustling cityscape, while inside, the room was spacious, bright, and decorated in a minimalist, modern style. The room wasn't overly decorated; frankly, from a design perspective, there wasn't much that was particularly striking. However, the clean lines, exquisite details, and minimalist use of natural wood redefined the image of a traditional luxury business hotel. I especially liked the bathroom, which was spacious and seamlessly connected to the living room and bedroom. 6. At the Chengdu JW Marriott, not just the guest rooms but also the large, spacious lobby embraces a minimalist style, which could be described as remarkably understated. I believe this is a sense of containment that the design team has strived to create. Luxury doesn't necessarily mean gold and glitter; it can be subtly woven into the design elements and details.

This square with the statue of chairman Mao is a political and cultural centre of Chengdu. It is an important and iconic building that is easily accessed and an expansive complex with an area of 88.000 square metre. It connects to metro and bus station, entertainments, retail outlets and eateries underneath it. There are eight pillar with life lesson poetry guarding the square. The Sichuan library, Sichuan Science and Technology Museum, Sichuan grand theater and Sichuan Hospital and other important building also surrounding it. It's a good experience to sit on the square and watch all the greatness around me.
