✨Experience:
If you ask me which experience in Hong Kong is the most representative, then "taking the Peak Tram" must be at the top. This is not only a journey, but also a visual feast of history and scenery. From the bustling area of Central, I climbed up to the top of Victoria Peak in a slanting manner. In just a few minutes, it felt like a century of urban transformation.
I chose to go to the Peak Tram Terminal on Garden Road in the evening. There were many people queuing, but the route was clearly planned. While waiting, I could also enjoy the historical photos and video introductions on the wall, which made people have more respect for this cable car system that has been in operation since 1888.
When I got on the carriage and slowly set off, I was immediately amazed by the "slope" - it was really slanting! It felt like I was going to slide off the chair. The cable car seemed to climb up the slope, passing through the green mountains and gaps between high-rise buildings, and the scenery kept changing. Sitting by the window on the right is the biggest benefit. You can see the city scenery on both sides of the Victoria Harbour all the way. The picture is so beautiful that it seems unreal, especially when the sun is about to set, the whole sky and the sea are dyed golden red, coupled with the gradually brightening city lights in the distance, like a dream.
After arriving at the terminal, you will see the famous Peak Plaza and Peak Tower. In addition to shopping and dining, there is also Sky Terrace 428, the highest outdoor observation deck in Hong Kong. Looking down from here, the whole city is spread out in front of you like a model, and there is a completely different sense of shock whether it is day or night.
The charm of the Peak Tram does not only come from its ability to take you up and see far, but also from the history and feelings behind it. For more than 130 years, it has witnessed the colonial period, economic takeoff, return and various changes today. It is one of the few means of transportation that allows people to "take on history". Although you can also choose to take a bus or taxi to the mountain, the soul of this journey is lost without the process of slowly rising and the heartbeat speeding up with anticipation.
Of course, you may have to wait in line when there are many people, and you will need some patience in the peak season, but once you get on the cable car and watch the view slowly rise, the throbbing is definitely worth waiting. If you are willing to spend some time to choose a time period with good weather and around dusk, you can also get the double touch of daytime and nighttime scenery at once.
In summary, the Peak Tram is not just a mountaineering route, but also a ritual that travels through the city, history and soul. It reminds us that sometimes, only by walking slowly and looking up can we see the most beautiful side of the city. Next time you come to Hong Kong, don’t just take photos and check in, take the Peak Tram yourself and let it take you "up" into the soul of this city.
