The plane landed at Vienna Airport on time at 07:15. There will be a 15 hour transfer time here. I quickly checked in my luggage for the next flight and saved myself a lot of trouble. Walk out of the airport with ease. Where to go? Returning to Vienna? I improvised, followed my inspiration, and jumped on the airport FlixBus. 45 minutes later, I arrived in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It is located on the Danube River, close to the borders of Austria and Hungary. Stand on the hill of Bratislava Castle and overlook the meandering Danube River and the entire city. From the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral to the Baroque Old Town Hall to the modern UFO Tower, each building tells a different story. The rising sun dyed the sky golden, the Danube River sparkled under the sunlight, and the boats on the river floated slowly. I also quietly enjoyed this quiet moment in the busy morning. Bratislava has a complex and eventful history. It was the capital of Hungary from 1526 to 1784, and later became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire as it formed. After the end of World War I in 1918, when the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed, the Czech and Slovak nations, which have close historical ties, chose to unite and jointly established the Czechoslovak Republic. Bratislava became its second city. Czechoslovakia disintegrated on January 1, 1993, and Slovakia became a sovereign and independent country with Bratislava as its capital.
