Spend your day off strolling around Tai Kwun in Central, soaking in the historic architecture and relaxing atmosphere. I decided to try out a brunch spot that’s been highly recommended online.
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area boasts high ceilings and retro decor, creating a cozy ambiance, while the outdoor area exudes a laid-back vibe. Both have their own charm, but I opted for indoor seating to avoid the sun.
🥯 Scrambled Egg Bagel with Smoked Salmon
This smoked salmon bagel is simple yet outstanding. The bagel is lightly toasted for a crisp exterior while remaining soft and chewy inside. Paired with creamy scrambled eggs and fresh smoked salmon, the flavors are well-balanced. The salmon is fresh without being overly salty, and the scrambled eggs are rich, tender, and juicy, with a thick layer that melts in your mouth.
🥓 Full English Breakfast
The bacon is crispy and flavorful, the pork sausage is firm and juicy, and the dish is complemented by a runny poached egg, fresh mushrooms, juicy cherry tomatoes, thin and crispy hash browns, and baked beans in tomato sauce. The ingredients are high-quality, and while the plating isn’t overly fancy, the combination of good food and the scenic view makes for a satisfying meal.
🍹 Negroni
This cocktail leans towards the bitter side with a hint of citrus aroma. It has a relatively high alcohol content and delivers a refreshing kick. If you enjoy bold-flavored drinks, this one’s for you.
🥂 Viognier Domaine
This white wine has a subtle fruity aroma and a refreshing taste. It’s not overly acidic and pairs well with light dishes. It carries faint floral and melon notes, making it easy to drink. Personally, I find this wine more suitable for lunchtime compared to the Negroni.
Overall, the prices are on the higher side, but the ambiance and food quality are impressive for a tourist area, making it worth the splurge.
