One of the destinations in Malacca is this place. It's quite high up with many steps on stairs; great exercise for hiking. From up there you can see beautiful side of Malacca town. There are many scriptures statues in foreign language. Those people who are interested in history should engage tour guide. One of the most historical and ironic place of Malacca is the ruins of St Paul’s Church which is located on top of a hill. The church was built in the 16th century and what’s left are the ruins and history of the place. Admission is free and since it is located on top of a hill, there are stairs to climb up so take note for those traveling with elderly or young children. Do go on a weekday to experience the quiet and serenity of the place as it can get pretty crowded on the weekends. The view on top is beautiful with views of the city and its port. It is a place not to be missed if you’re a history buff. #malaka

It was originally built in 1521....Fuhhhhh so ancient. As you climb uphill there is a lot of Pokok Cermai; Malay Gooseberry Tree. It is similar to amla; Indian Gooseberry. Rich in Vitamic C super duper sour. Some people make pickles with this fruit. So, this church has been used by Portuguese and Dutch before. The Church have have transited from being a Christian Church to Roman Catholic Church to Dutch Reformed Church and now remained a museum. The view on top of the hill is breathtaking. You will need to climb at least several floors up to the top to be able to see the statue. It is really worthwhile going up. It is best to go during the morning or the evening time. A UNESCO World Heritage city where Western and Chinese cultures blend together. Let us introduce you to a day in Malacca, a place surprisingly connected to Japanese history! ① A Famosa Fortress (Photo 1) This fortress was built by the Portuguese when they occupied Malacca. It dates back to around 1511, making it a site with over 500 years of history. At the entrance of the fortress, you can find cannons that were used during that time, allowing you to feel the history of the Age of Exploration firsthand. When I visited in late October, charming purple flowers were in bloom, adding a stylish touch to the atmosphere. ☺️ ② St. Paul’s Church (Photos 2 & 3) This church is associated with Francis Xavier, who introduced Christianity to Japan. Xavier traveled from this very place to Japan to spread Christianity. I was unaware of this story, so I was quite surprised when I heard Francis Xavier’s name mentioned! Today, only the outer walls of the church remain. In front of the church stands a statue of Francis Xavier. ③ Malacca Streets (Photos 4 & 5) Malacca’s Old Town features several bustling streets filled with tourists enjoying food and shopping. The most famous ones are Heeren Street and Jonker Street. These streets have a distinctly Chinese vibe, with traditional shops and cafes lining both sides. It’s an area you can enjoy just by strolling around. Since Malacca can get quite hot, why not take a relaxing break at one of the cafes? ④ St. Francis Xavier Church (Photo 6) This church stands by the river and has a cathedral-like ambiance. Taking a photo with the Malacca Cruise boat in the background makes for a very stylish shot. Outside the church, there are two statues. These were donated by the Kagoshima Malaysia Friendship Association to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Francis Xavier’s birth. In one day, I took a RedBus from Kuala Lumpur and jumped into this ancient city of Malacca, which is a "World Cultural Heritage" stamped by UNESCO! This place is like an overturned palette, a mixture of the gorgeousness of Dutch red houses, the colors of Nyonya tiles, the fragrance of Jonker Street, and the Nanyang pace that is so slow that it makes people want to be dazed. 🚌 Transportation strategy: Bus + GRAB seamless integration Departing from TBS station in Kuala Lumpur, the air-conditioned bus booked on RedBus was on time and comfortable (RM10-15 one way, 2 hours journey)💺. After arriving at Malacca Sentral Station, you can directly use Grab to call a taxi to Jonker Street (fare is RM8-10, and it takes 10 minutes to get there), saving time and effort! 📍Dutch Square The first stop was to head to the "oldest Dutch building in Southeast Asia" - the entire brick-red building complex was as beautiful as a postcard under the blue sky! 🏰 Standing in front of the Christian church to take beautiful photos for the internet. 📍St. Paul's Cathedral & Castillo de Santiago Walk through the path behind the Red House and climb up St. Paul's Hill. The bullet-riddled walls of the ruined church tell the story of war.
