[2025 Hong Kong Hotels] Travel Guide for MK STAY (Updated Jul)

Summary of Hong Kong expenses from 2024 to 2025. Since we went to countdown in Hong Kong, today I will review the total expenses for 3 days and 2 nights. This trip will be a non-superstitious trip. Let's start with the travel expenses. We booked a ticket with Hong Kong Airlines for 5,290 baht. This time, we did not check in our luggage. We exchanged 9,000 baht from Thai baht to HKD, which was around 4.4 THB to 1 HKD at the time. We set aside 1,000 baht for travel expenses. When we arrived, we used the money to rent an Octopus card first. If I remember correctly, the card cost 150 HKD with a 50 HKD deposit that can be exchanged back on the day the card is returned. The easiest place to buy a card is at the airport. After that, we walked to take the A21 bus to get into the city. The cost should be around 34 HKD and our main travel will be walking and taking the MTR, which we think is very cheap compared to the cost of living and income of Hong Kong people. For accommodation, we booked MK Hotel, which cost 3,759 baht per person (the price per night is more expensive than going to Japan 😭). During the time we went, the price of accommodation was higher than usual because it was the end of the year, but we think that if we didn't go during this time, the price would be cheaper. For other miscellaneous expenses, we used MSIG's travel insurance, which was good and had a discount if bought from the website. As for tram tickets, we recommend booking from the app in advance because the price might be better and you won't have to waste time queuing to buy tickets. For food expenses, personally, going for 3 days and 2 nights was just right. My boyfriend and I focused more on drinking beer, which was a bit expensive, at around 100 HKD per glass (400+ baht), except for buying at the supermarket, which was a bit cheaper. However, the food here was a lot and the taste might be a bit too rich, making us full quickly. For those who like pastries, you should like this place because there are quite a lot of bread or flour menus. Overall, the cost was quite within budget because this time we didn't focus on shopping that much because we didn't really have a big budget. For those who love shopping, you might like it. Recently I saw on social media that a sheng jian bao shop has become a popular shop, so I decided to give it a try while I was in Mong Kok getting my manicure and skin done! Liu Xingji Sheng Jian Bao specialty shop has many branches. The Mong Kok branch is located in Ladies' Street near Gala Place, which is conveniently located. The store offers à la carte dishes and popular set menus. My friend and I ordered a variety of dishes to share. Fried dumplings with crab roe ($18/piece) - a perfect combination of thin skin and rich juice The "Crab Roe Fried Bun" at $18 is extremely cost-effective. Under the thin and crispy skin, there is rich filling and plenty of soup. The aroma of crab roe bursts out as soon as you bite it, and the meat filling is generous and unforgettable. The soup base is rich with a strong peanut flavor, which is perfectly combined with the smooth noodles and rich fillings (such as sakura shrimp, crushed peanuts and minced meat). It has just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness, leaving you with a long aftertaste. Handmade Red Bean Paste Pancake ($28) - a Shanghainese dessert that's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside As a must-order dessert in Shanghai restaurants, "Handmade Red Bean Paste Pancake" is definitely a highlight. The crust is crispy and the filling is moderately sweet and fragrant, not too sweet, and unforgettable. Soy milk $8 The light sweetness is just right and doesn't mask the natural aroma of the beans. Overall, the restaurant has a very high cost-performance ratio. Whether it is pan-fried buns, dandan noodles or pot cakes, they are all very delicious. I recommend a hotel in Hong Kong called MK Stay Hotel. The hotel is located in the Mongkok area. It is very convenient to travel from the MTR. You can take the A21 bus from the airport to the hotel or you can take the hotel back to the airport on the way back. Adults $34.60 is to walk out of the hotel and turn onto the main road. When you find the main road, turn right to the bus stop at Changsha St., Nathan Rd. It is very convenient. There is a 7-11 convenience store right across from the hotel. There are many types of rooms to choose from. But this time I was traveling alone and staying for only one night, so I chose this room. The room is not big, but I can open a 20-inch suitcase. The room is not very soundproof. I heard the door closing. But at night, everyone went to bed without any noise. I personally think it is worth the price.
