Located 5 kilometers north of Lijiang, it unfolds like a fan facing the ancient city. The highest peak, Shanzidou, reaches an altitude of 5,596 meters. Thirteen snow-capped peaks stretch from south to north, resembling a giant dragon taking flight, hence the name "Yulong" (Jade Dragon). Because it is mainly composed of limestone and basalt, black and white, it is considered a sacred mountain by the Naxi people. We picked up our mountain entry permits at the Grand Hyatt Lijiang and visited Baisha Ancient Town on our way to Yulong Snow Mountain. We stayed at the most beautiful snow mountain hotel, Jinmao Purelax Mountain Hotel, and took the cable car up Yulong Snow Mountain. Wonderful time, Lijiang.

In December, I spent 10 days traveling from Kunming to Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La. I stayed in each place for 2 to 3 days. I wanted a clean, comfortable, and safe place to stay with a good view and a convenient location. I did some research online and chose these 4 hotels/guesthouses. They were all great and I had a wonderful experience. Jinse Zaiye Courtyard, Panhai Ranch, Shangri-La: Located in Napa Sea Yila Prairie, I booked a room with a courtyard where I could see the snow-capped mountains and grasslands. I had breakfast with the animals every day. Staying here was so relaxing and enjoyable. It was only a 15-20 minute drive to Dukezong Ancient Town and Songzanlin Monastery, which was very convenient. Wendini Seaview Resort Hotel (Shuanglang Erhai Store), Dali: I was amazed by the beauty of the hotel as soon as I entered. I booked a sea view room where I could see the stunning view of Erhai Lake. The hotel paid attention to details. Although the price was not cheap, it included pick-up, breakfast, dinner, and sweet soup. The room was well-equipped. It was actually very cost-effective. Jinmao Purelax Mountain Hotel Lijiang, In the Unbound Collection by Hyatt: The hotel was garden-style with a beautiful environment. It was located in Shuhe Ancient Town, a 30-minute drive to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and a 20-minute drive to Lijiang Ancient Town and Baisha Ancient Town. I mainly went to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, so I booked a snow view room. I could see the beautiful snow-capped mountains from the room, which was really worth it. The hotel also had many cute animals and a rich breakfast. Overall, I was very satisfied. Novotel Kunming Dianchi Times Square: The price was less than 400 per night, which was very cost-effective! I mainly stayed in Kunming to adapt to the altitude, so the location and surroundings of the hotel were more important. The hotel itself did not need to be too luxurious. Novotel was only a 15-minute drive from the train station. It was next to Nanya City, which had many dining and shopping options. It was also close to Fuhai Subway Station, which was convenient to go to Dianchi Lake or Cuihu Lake. Most importantly, the room was large and had a washing machine, which made me feel at home.
