Thousand-year-old temple: Hanshan Temple
Zhang Ji: Night Mooring at Maple Bridge
"The moon sets, the crows cry, the sky is full of frost, the maples on the river bank and the fishing fires face the sad sleep
"The bell of Hanshan Temple outside Gusu City reaches the passenger ship at midnight"
Dear students, I believe you must have heard this poem when you were studying! ! This poem uses the description of scenery to express the low mood of failing the imperial examination. The author was inspired to write this poem when passing by "Hanshan Temple", which also became an important factor in the fame of Hanshan Temple in the future.
history:
It was built during the Southern Liang Dynasty of the Six Dynasties and was originally named "Miaoli Puming Pagoda". It is said that during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, famous monks "Hanshan" and "Shide" came here from Mount Tiantai to serve as abbots, so the name was changed to "Hanshan Temple". Later, it became famous both at home and abroad because of the influence of the work "A Night Mooring at Maple Bridge"! !
Impact on later generations:
1. The eminent monk "Shi De" introduced Buddhism to Japan to preach and established the "Shi De Temple", so Hanshan Temple is also well-known in Japan! The two temples are sister temples!
2. Introducing the Buddhist tradition of "knocking the bell 108 times" to Japan🇯🇵
Hanshan Temple Introduction:
Facing east and west, it symbolizes the concept of facing the "Pure Land of Bliss". In the park, you can see the poem tablets of celebrities such as "Yue Fei" and "Kang Youwei". The source of the "midnight bell" comes from the bell tower of Hanshan Temple. A New Year's bell ringing ceremony is held on the last day of each year. In the concept of Buddhism, people have a total of "108 kinds of troubles", so ringing the bell 108 times means that all troubles in the coming year will be eliminated. If there are visiting tourists, don't forget to take a look at this bell and take a photo as a souvenir! !
Park attractions:
The Great Hall of the Buddha has a tall Sumeru pedestal on which is enshrined a golden statue of Sakyamuni. There are also 18 gilded Arhat statues on both sides.
"Wu Dian": Side Hall
Sutra Library: The golden statues of the two eminent monks Hanshan and Shide are enshrined in the library. The Diamond Sutra is engraved on the walls, and the Sanskrit version of the Longzang is a precious collection.
"Stele Gallery": You can see the poetry steles of famous people such as "Wen Zhengming", "Tang Yin", "Yue Fei", "Kang Youwei", etc.
"Bell Tower": This is the source of the "midnight bell sound". However, the current bell tower is not the one Zhang Ji saw at the beginning. It was renovated during the Qing Dynasty, but it still has great historical significance.
