I've visited Penang, Malaysia three times now. Previously, I spent my time exploring George Town, but this time I decided to head north to Batu Ferringhi. It was truly relaxing! Now I understand why my friends from Kuala Lumpur all rave about Penang! At 6:30 PM, I walked into BoraBora and was lucky enough to get a front-row seat. Around 7:15 PM, the sunset began, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. For nearly an hour, the orange hues of the sea and the evening glow blended beautifully, followed by a lively bonfire party. To sum it up: "The sea in Penang may be average, but the atmosphere is absolutely perfect!" Penang also offers plenty of attractions and local delicacies worth exploring, such as: 1. George Town: As a UNESCO World Heritage city, it boasts numerous historic buildings and street art. Every corner holds a delightful surprise waiting to be discovered. 2. Penang Bridge: Connecting Penang Island to the mainland, this bridge offers spectacular ocean views. 3. #malaysiatrip 📍Yu Village, River Park, Penang Visited this newly opened restaurant in River Park Penang for dinner! Specialising in soup noodle, they offer noodles to pair with various kinds of fish like fried fish, grouper, barramundi, red snapper and different kinds of seafoods for such prawns squids clams. Besides the ample choices of ingredients, they also offer soup bases like bone broth, tomato soup, curry soup and more! The restaurant is huge and spacious, however the spacing between tables could be further apart! Plenty parking spots are available in the area, so there is one less problem to worry about! Food was served hot and pretty quickly! The ingredients used were fresh, love the dry noodles served with meatballs, fishballs and prawn balls. Very flavourful and chewy. Would revisit!

Come back to Penang to try a hotel on the other side of the mainland, this is the 3rd hotel reviewed for this year. I was moved to book because the main reason was the water park. And I looked at Agoda and it was crazy expensive at rm300+. There was a promotion on Shopee so I grabbed it (bought in October 2021) 🛖Grand Orient Hotel -hotel 3⭐️ -located in Kampung Jawa Perai, Penang -the hotel has only been operating for 5 years -checked in on 18/2/2022 -booked via Shopee for rm156 with breakfast and 4 water park tickets (if you book on Agoda or other platforms you can still get 4 water park tickets) -deposit of rm100, fast check-in process, friendly and excellent staff but they let you know if there are stains on the sheets and towels, deposit burn 😂(ink is like a 5-star hotel, even 5-star hotels don't make rules like this 😂). It's not the staff who are rude, it's the hotel rules who are rude. 🛖Room -type superior plus room, king bed -the room is really narrow, 17m2, but there is still room for prayer. -the bathroom is also small -cleanliness 5/10 (the toilet bowl is not very clean, the wallpaper is also very stained and some are torn) -the future wall is interesting, there are gorillas haha. Kids love it -the room is really not soundproof, it's really noisy with the noise of the kids next door (my room was also noisy, there were no kids haha) -only given nescafe, no tea -TV, refrigerator, hair dryer are available -the plug is in the middle of the headboard, the room design is really minimalist and modern but it's not well maintained -after taking a shower, the water is stagnant 😂, just call and he will come immediately to service him. 🛖facilities -parking is only in front of the hotel and limited, if it's full you have to park on the side of the road outside. Outsiders can also walk in to bathe in the water park for RM28 per person adult or kids, the same price. That's why parking is difficult on weekends. -the water park is really good and recommended. It has 3 levels of sliding height and a water depth of 1.4m. So the kids who ride the slide have to have an adult to watch over them, but if the kids are good at swimming, no problem. There is no life guard to watch over them, each one is good at watching over them 😂. There is a slide for kids in the other portion that is only about my calf level deep, which is safe for kids who don't know how to swim. The pool is also big enough to swim in. Overall the water park is 5⭐️. Operation from 8am-7pm. -I don't know if there is breakfast, because I looked on Agoda there is no breakfast, but there is a halal cafe. -there is a gym and sauna 🛖environment -quite strategic location close to Seberang Jaya and Bandar Perda so if you want to find food you can go to this area in just 5-10min drive. 🛖value for money -with the price paid yes, but if the price on agoda is rm300 it's not worth it. -when checking out you get 4 ice creams 😂 🛖summary -this hotel only wins at its waterpark -excellent staff -room failed 😂 -only suitable for families. It felt safe, scenic, and refreshingly peaceful — a hidden gem for those who want to see a different side of Penang. Travel Tips: • Best time to cycle: Evening (around 5:30–7:00 PM) for cooler temperatures and sunset views. • Bring your own bike or rent nearby: Bike-sharing may be limited in this area. • Stay hydrated: Bring water as there are few shops along the way. • Perfect for beginners and casual riders: The route is flat and well-paved. • Watch for tide and wind: Coastal wind can be strong at times — secure any loose gear. • Bring a headlamp or light if staying past dusk: Lighting is limited after dark.
