2025 Hakuba Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

This is another place that is on my wishlist that I must come. It is soooooo beautiful. It was soooooo beautiful from the moment I entered Hakuba city. We saw the Japan Alps all the way. We chose to take the bus to sleep in Nagano first and then take the bus from Nagano to Hakuba. We arrived around 10 a.m., there were already quite a few tourists queuing to buy round-trip Gondola tickets. When we reached the top, we played the Yoohoo Swing first. There is a video shooting service. Then we went to the highlight of this place, which is a cafe where you can see the snow-covered Japan Alps above and the beautiful green below. We were lucky that there were few clouds but the sun wasn’t too strong. But the weather was great. Then we took the lift with our legs dangling down to the cafe and sat on the Giant Swing, which was way more thrilling than the Yoohoo. The view was just as beautiful. Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture. CITY BAKERY, located in Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort, is a popular cafe for skiers and snowboarders, where you can enjoy meals and drinks while taking in the beautiful mountain scenery. They have a wide selection of fresh breads and pastries that you would expect from a bakery, and they also have a wide selection of coffee and drinks. I visited the store around 11:00 on a weekday, and had to wait about 10 minutes to enter the store. There were so many delicious looking breads lined up in the store that I had a hard time deciding what to get. Croissants are popular, but this time I had the most popular BakersMuffin (¥660) and an iced cafe latte (¥640). The BakersMuffin is made of cinnamon-kneaded dough with apples, raisins, and walnuts, and has a crispy texture with cinnamon as an accent, making it very delicious. I had it on the terrace, and was able to spend a wonderful tea time in front of the spectacular view. Hakuba Canadian Lodge is located in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture. It is a rental villa at the entrance to Wadano Forest, the beautiful Hakuba Happo-one, and has three types of buildings in a large, natural area: trailer cabins, condominiums, and log houses. This time, we stayed overnight in a trailer cabin type C. It was ¥5,000 per person per night for two people. We wanted to have a bonfire, so we asked for an additional ¥2,000 for a tarp, chairs, and table set. The trailer cabin was very clean and comfortable. There are various cooking utensils, rice cookers, kettles, etc., so we only brought our own ingredients to cook, and we were grateful that there was no inconvenience at all. At night, you can also observe the stars under the starry sky, so it is recommended. Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort is located in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture. This popular tourist destination in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture, offers activities for all seasons. In particular, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in winter, and hiking and mountain biking in summer. You can access the summit by ropeway and enjoy the magnificent view. This time, I visited to see the three-stage autumn leaves. I arrived at the ropeway station around 10:30 a.m. on a weekday, but it was not crowded and I was able to ride smoothly. From there, you can go up to the top of Iwatake Mountain, which is 1,289 meters above sea level. The round-trip ropeway cost 2,400 yen per adult. After arriving at Noah's Mountain Station at the top of the mountain, I headed to HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, where you can see the Northern Alps right in front of you.
