Using locally produced red bricks and the region’s signature red soil, Luo designed a surreal cluster of buildings that blend artistic expression with cultural heritage. Among its most iconic structures are the Kaleidoscope Art Museum, Half Cloud, Niuduoluo Music Farm, and the Seal House. The Kaleidoscope is a fairytale-like brick fortress built entirely without steel, cement, or wood—only geometry and red bricks. Its shape evokes burning flames or wine bottles, with interiors that fuse Western domes and traditional Chinese kilns. Inspired by Luo Xu’s childhood love of kaleidoscopes, the glass dome projects ever-changing light patterns across the space. Inside, the haunting ceramic choir from Luo’s Thousand-Person Chorus stands solemnly, their earthen forms singing a silent ode to art and emotion—evoking grief, joy, serenity, and power through soulful stillness.
