A Thousand Years of History on Mount Tadou in Fengtingzhen, Xianyou, Putian

⛰️Mount Tadou is not particularly high, with an elevation of just 118m. It takes only about half an hour to climb from the foot of the mountain. Though not towering, this sacred mountain offers numerous attractions worth exploring. 🏯Huiyuan Chan Temple: One of the eight ancient temples in Fujian. Founded during the Yonghui and Kaiyuan periods of the Tang Dynasty, the current buildings were completed in 1992. The architectural style primarily follows Song Dynasty characteristics, incorporating Ming and Qing Dynasty decorative carvings. ⛰️Start your mountain journey from this temple, ascending from the entrance gate, passing through the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Main Buddha Hall, and the Hall of Great Compassion... Exit through the back door to reach the Guanyin statue, passing by a huge yellow wall inscribed with Buddhist wisdom. Huiyuan Temple also features many large camellia trees, which are quite beautiful. 🏯Guanyin Statue: Located behind Huiyuan Temple, the Guanyin statue stands 16.19m tall, at a total elevation of 91.9m. The pavilion next to the Guanyin statue plaza offers a panoramic view of Huiyuan Temple. 🏯Nine Immortals Pavilion: A newly renovated Taoist temple with exquisitely decorated entrance gate and Jade Emperor Hall, showcasing the dedication of Fujian people to their religious architecture. 🏯Wenchang Pavilion: Reportedly built during the Tang Dynasty and converted into Huixin Academy during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. The current structure was built after the founding of the People's Republic. A statue of Qi Jiguang stands beside the pavilion. 🏯Wanshou Pagoda: Officially named Tianzhong Wanshou Pagoda, it is one of China's earliest Buddhist pagodas. Built during the Five Dynasties period, it has a history of over 1,000 years, dating back to 1059 (4th year of Jiazhe in the Song Dynasty). It is the only national key cultural relic protection site among all buildings on Mount Tadou and is worth visiting. 🏯Xianyou Vista: From Wanshou Pagoda at the mountain's peak, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Xianyou extending all the way to the distant bay. 🏯Fengting Old Street: The old street in Fengting Town, where Mount Tadou is located, offers a vibrant atmosphere with local delicacies. Try the wonton, fried oysters, and Fengting cake. The entrance is near the Cai Xiang statue at the bus station.
