Hotel Metropolitan's location is simply perfect, just a short walk from JR Ikebukuro Station. Whether you're into shopping, dining, or easy transportation, this place checks all the boxes! While the hotel shows some signs of age, its style is well maintained. What impressed me most was the service—the front desk staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, with English-speaking staff available. The lobby greets you with a simple yet cozy decor, creating a relaxed atmosphere. As for the room experience, while the space isn't huge, it's impeccably clean. I stayed in a twin room with good soundproofing. The bed might not match the comfort of a five-star hotel, but it's soft enough. The room comes with free WiFi, air conditioning, a high-pressure shower, and even a handy mobile phone for guests to use. A nice touch is that guests can choose between smoking or non-smoking rooms, though the bathroom ventilation could be better—something to keep in mind. For nearby recommendations, the Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo is a must-visit, just a short walk away. If you're looking for a leisurely activity, Sunshine Aquarium is great for marine life viewing. When hunger strikes, head to Mutekiya Ramen or Sushi no Midori for absolutely delicious meals—seriously mouthwatering 😋. For drinks, Kurand Sake Market offers an authentic experience. Of course, the hotel's highlights come with minor drawbacks. Some guests have reported that the air conditioning in certain rooms isn't strong enough, leading to waking up hot at night. Overall, while Hotel Metropolitan might not be the trendiest, its unbeatable location and solid service make it great value for money.
