[Italy, Pienza] Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral

#FreeHotelStay Pienza in Tuscany, which is registered as a World Heritage Site as the "Historic Center of the City of Pienza," was built in the 15th century by Pope Pius II, a native of the town, in collaboration with Florentine architects in an attempt to stop the impoverishment and depopulation of the local town. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is an impressive cathedral with a Renaissance-style facade made of white marble. It bears the coat of arms of the Piccolomini family. The inside of the cathedral has a high ceiling and feels larger than I expected. In stark contrast to the bustle outside, there was a solemn atmosphere.
