No other country celebrates New Year like Russia

Spending New Year’s in Moscow felt like stepping into a glittering snow globe. The city was glowing—literally. Red Square was lit up with dazzling lights, massive Christmas trees, and festive decorations that turned the historic heart of the city into a winter fairytale. The atmosphere was electric. Music filled the streets, people were bundled up in coats and scarves, smiling, laughing, and sipping hot drinks to stay warm in the freezing air. I joined the countdown with a crowd of strangers-turned-friends, all watching the fireworks explode above the Kremlin—it was pure magic. I’ll never forget the way snowflakes danced in the sky as the bells of St. Basil’s rang in the new year. It was cold, yes, but my heart was warm the whole night. A celebration I’ll never forget, in a city that knows how to make winter feel alive.
