climbing on a rocky mountain

who could have thought this sacred and spiritual monasteries, a marvelous and incredible rock formation. it was an awe inspiring experienced i had during my trip to meteora. visiting each monasteries was crowded and had to slowly get along with the crowd from room to room. the fees for each monastery was only 3 euros and ladies need to wear a dress or skirt in order to enter however there were rentals of the skirt if needed. there were six monasteries altogether for viewing however each monastery has visiting hours therefore please check before the visits. it is definitely a must visit when in greece. #greece #monastery #meteora #rockformation

🪨☁️ Meteora | The moment of quiet stay between the sky and faith The monasteries standing in the mist are more shocking than in dreams When I came to this place called "Sky City", everything seemed to slow down. Those huge rocks are like the skeletons left by the gods on the earth, and the monasteries are like the traces left by faith in the world - unobtrusive, but extremely powerful. 🌄 My itinerary I took a train from Athens to Kalambaka and stayed for one night. The next morning, I set out from the city and took a minibus along the winding mountain road. Every time I turned a corner, the scenery in front of me was amazing To enter the monastery, you need to climb hundreds of stone steps, witness the gondolas that transport goods, and the herbs planted by the nuns themselves 🌬️ There is no hustle and bustle of the city here, only the sound of wind, bells, and the footsteps of monks. When you stand on the edge of the cliff and look at the mountains and clouds in the distance, you will understand that this journey is not just for viewing the scenery, but a stop for the soul. --- 🔔 Meteora travel tips 📍Transportation methods * It takes about 4.5 hours to get to Kalambaka by train from Athens (you can choose to go early and return late for a day trip, but you will be in a hurry) * It is recommended to arrange at least one night to spend more time to experience this sacred place 🕍 Monastery visit highlights * There are 6 existing monasteries open for visits (opening times vary from day to day, please check the official website or local travel service center before departure) * Recommended monasteries: Great Meteoron (largest), Holy Trinity (most beautiful view), Roussanou (gentle atmosphere) 👗 Dress code * Girls need to wear long skirts and cover their shoulders, and long pants also need to borrow scarves (scarves can be borrowed on site) * Boys need to wear long pants, not vests * It is recommended to wear hiking shoes or non-slip sneakers, as some stairs are steep and slippery 📸 Photo etiquette * Photography is prohibited inside the monastery, please respect the religious space * The mountain is windy and there are many cliffs, please be careful when taking photos! 🌅 Tips * The light is most beautiful at sunrise and dusk, which is also the best time to take photos * It is recommended to bring water, sun hats, and windproof jackets * There is a lot of walking and climbing on the way, please try to bring light luggage --- 📖 Summarize this trip in one sentence: "In Meteora, I am not going to climb the mountain, but to stay quietly in a world bigger than myself."
