London's Oldest Church

This site originally housed a wooden monastery established by Bishop Mellitus in AD 606, which was later replaced by a Norman-style monastery in 1106. The current Gothic structure was built between 1220 and 1420, and the nave was restructured between 1897 and 1905, elevating it to cathedral status.
