Guizhou - Tongren - Mount Fanjing

Visiting Mount Fanjing was a truly surreal experience and I would recommend it to everyone. We got a train from Guiyang to Tongren early in the morning (6am-7.34am) and quickly checked into our hotel. We then got a taxi to the site which took an hour and cost 220rmb. We arrived at 10am and walked to the ticket office. We paid 260rmb for a ticket that included entry, shuttle bus passes and cable car journeys. I would recommend this ticket type as the journey to the top was very long! I would also recommend arriving a lot earlier than we did, we waited about 2 hours to get off the cable cars due to very long queues. The site itself is open from 6am. The mountain itself is absolutely breathtaking. There are multiple temples, peaks and summits to explore as well as the outstanding views. The star of the show has to be the Red Cloud Golden Peak summit which is home to two Buddhist temples with a stone bridge connecting them. The temples are 2336m above sea level, it’s incredible to see! We spent 4 hours exploring the site, it’s a lot of walking and climbing so wear sensible shoes. You are also extremely high up so the weather is much cooler and it rained. I would recommend taking a rain coat and jumper. Once you have completed your trip and reached the car park, you are spoilt for choice with restaurants. It is also very easy to get a taxi back into Tongren. #hiking #naturalwonders #summervacation
