Wan Chai Blue House Hong Kong Story House

Architectural history: The Blue House is located at 72-74 Stone Nullah Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island. It was built in 1920. The original site was the Hua Tuo Hospital registered in 1872. In the 1950s, Lam Tzu, the nephew of Lam Sai Wing, a disciple of Wong Fei Hung, opened a Hong Quan martial arts school here. In the 1960s, his son Lam Chun Hin changed the martial arts school into a Chinese medicine clinic. Architectural features: It is one of the few existing pre-war tenement buildings with a terrace structure. It is of Lingnan style. The unique balcony design is rare in Hong Kong. After conservation and revitalization in 2017, it won the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage Conservation Excellence Project Award. Surrounding buildings: Together with the adjacent Yellow House (yellow exterior wall) and Orange House (orange exterior wall), it forms a three-color building complex. Introduction to Hong Kong Story House Development history: Formerly the Wan Chai Folk Life Museum, which was founded in 2007, was renamed the Hong Kong Story House in 2012 Exhibition content: Mainly displays the daily necessities of early Hong Kong residents, such as old sewing machines, kerosene lamps, herbal tea utensils, thermoses, radios, etc., and also has a floating library.
