Nyoirinji Temple (Frog Temple) This temple is located in Ogori City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is said to have been built by Gyoki Bosatsu around 730 AD. After the head priest brought back a jade frog from China, the number of frog ornaments increased. Currently, there are more than 2,000 frogs lined up, and it is popular with a wide range of generations, especially children. Locally, it is better known by the nickname Frog Temple than by its official name Nyoirinji Temple. Many people visit the temple to pray for road safety and good fortune, with puns such as "safe frog" and "money frog". The goshuin is lovely. Menya Ga-ga This ramen restaurant is characterized by its thin noodles and mild pork bone soup, and is so popular that there is always a line. There is a secondary parking lot a little further away, and the gyoza and rice balls are also popular. It is just a short distance from the Frog Temple, so be sure to stop by after visiting! Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine This shrine enshrines Sugawara no Michizane. As Michizane excelled in his studies, he is revered as the god of learning, and even today many students come to worship there. Highlights include the Taiko Bridge at Shinji Pond and the large camphor tree (a natural monument) in the precincts. It is also a famous plum blossom spot, with about 6,000 plum trees in full bloom, including the sacred Tobiume tree to the right of the main hall (an important cultural property), which is said to have flown from Kyoto in adoration of Michizane. At 8:30 a.m., at the start of the day, priests gather at the main hall to perform a morning worship ritual to purify the body and mind. You can receive purification together in the pure morning air and spend a healthy day. The nearby Starbucks is also nice.
