Dongpo Academy was built in the Northern Song Dynasty (1098) to commemorate the great literary giant and exiled official Su Dongpo of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was later renovated and renamed in the Ming Dynasty (1549). 890 years ago, Su Dongpo spent three years of exile here accompanied by his young son Su Guo. Later generations named the places where he lectured, met friends, and lived as Dongpo Village, Dongpo Field, Dongpo Well, Dongpo Road, Dongpo Sitting Stone, and built a clay statue of Dongpo Residence to commemorate him.
