That is the Old North Church, the oldest active church in Boston and one of the key landmarks of the American Revolution. This church, built in 1723, has a simple appearance, but it wrote an immortal page in history because of one night and two lights. On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere arranged with the church guards to light a light on the tower in advance to warn the colonial militia that the British army would attack by water - "One if by land, two if by sea." That night, two lights were lit on the tower, and the British army really took the water route. This simple signal became the starting point of the American Revolution. Stepping into the church, what comes into view is the symmetrical white wooden benches and natural light from the high windows, and the atmosphere is solemn and peaceful. The most special thing is the rows of small compartment seats. It turns out that they were "family boxes" in the 18th century, and each family can buy their own seat. Looking up at the tower, I thought of the scene of the night watchmen holding their breath and lighting the lamps. At that moment, it was no longer just history, but an immersive experience.
