Blue Danube River

Starting in the 9th century, some Slavs who migrated to the Balkan Peninsula began to establish countries such as Serbia. After World War I, Serbia joined the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After World War II, Serbia became one of the six republics of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In 1991, the former Yugoslavia began to disintegrate. In 1992, Serbia and Montenegro formed the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. On February 4, 2003, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was renamed Serbia and Montenegro. On June 3, 2006, Montenegro declared independence. On June 5 of the same year, the Republic of Serbia declared its inheritance of the international legal status of Serbia and Montenegro.
