Bang Khaenoi Temple

Wat Bang Kae Noi is a temple of the Mahanikaya sect located on the bank of the Mae Klong River at the mouth of Khlong Bang Kae in Tambon Kwae Om, Amphoe Amphawa, Samut Songkhram Province. The ordination hall of Wat Bang Kae Noi was originally built on a bamboo raft tied to a Bodhi tree. Phra Athikanthat was the abbot. This type of ordination hall was called Uthok Kuk Khep Sima. Later, Phra Athikan Rot, the second abbot, moved the ordination hall to build on the ground. Khunying Noi donated 8 rai, 2 ngan, and 29 square wah of land to build the temple. Permission was granted in 1875. The second ordination hall of the temple was built in 1887 and the boundary markers were tied in 1897. It is a Maha-ut style chapel with only one front door. It is made of brick and mortar. The upper part is made of wood. The front of the chapel is in the shape of a butterfly. There is no gable ordination hall. Wat Bang Kae Noi is the only carved teak wood chapel in Thailand.
