You can touch the more docile animals. Although you can't go to Africa to see the great animal migration, this has satisfied me🥹. As the largest wildlife park in Japan, there are wildlife areas and small animal communication areas in the park. You need to take the jungle bus to the wildlife area. The small animal communication area is more concentrated. After getting off the bus at the zoo, you will go directly to the ticket office. You can buy tickets for the jungle bus. On this self-drive trip, we traveled from Fukuoka to Yufuin, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery along the way. The roads were not crowded, making the drive very comfortable. However, traveling with children can be challenging due to the long distances, so it's best to plan a stop at an attraction to stretch and take a break. That's why we included a visit to the Kuju Natural Zoological Park midway. The zoo is easy to find, and the animals are mostly free-roaming in their natural habitats, not confined to cages. The best way to tour is by vehicle. You can either take the park's sightseeing bus to view and feed the animals or drive your own car through the park, but you must keep the windows closed. We chose the latter, so we'll have to wait until next time to see the lions and tigers up close. The park wasn't too crowded when we visited, so even with self-driving, there was no traffic congestion. After seeing the savannah animals, you can also visit the indoor salon to pet dogs or cats, and for an additional fee, feed the ponies. These activities are separate from the car tour but offer a full experience, and the kids had a lot of fun. Petting the cats is not highly recommended, as they were mostly sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb them; it's better to just watch from a distance. Located in the mountains without shuttle services, it was fortunate to visit. Guests enjoyed wearing yukata and experiencing Japanese culture. Additionally, the meals were excellent in both quantity and quality, making the stay worthwhile. ☔️Lessons Learned Not having an ETC card meant we couldn’t exit at the smart IC indicated by the navigation system, leading to detours. If you don’t have an ETC card, turn off smart IC guidance. Hakata has too many delicious options to try them all. Popular restaurants often have lines even on weekdays, so plan accordingly. 📝Final Thoughts Fukuoka and Oita are evidently very popular among Koreans, as seen during this trip. Next time, including attractions like dolphin shows, which are less common in Korea, might be a good idea.

You can get close to dangerous animals without going to Africa! It is located in Beppu Kyushu Natural Zoo. The selling point here is that you can take the park bus to feed the animals! The park bus costs 1,500 yen per trip. If you take the earliest bus, you may have to wait for 2 hours to catch the bus. It is recommended that you drive yourself or come in the afternoon. The car models have super cute animal patterns. While waiting for the bus, you can go in and get close to the cute animals. It takes about an hour. You can bring your own food or go to the restaurant in the park for the remaining hour. However, because the park bus drives on a bumpy mountain road, I feel a little carsick (because the bus is ventilated with windows open but no air conditioning). It is recommended that you don’t eat too much. Then just enjoy the time with dangerous animals!
