During my trip to Sapa, I decided to join a trekking day tour that covered Lao Chai and Ta Van villages — two of the most beautiful ethnic minority villages nestled in the valleys of northern Vietnam. The tour cost me $55 for two people, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering it included entrance fees, hotel drop-off, lunch, and an English-speaking guide. The trek was about 9 km long, winding through picturesque rice terraces, bamboo forests, and traditional houses. It sounds dreamy, right? Well… here’s the honest truth. Wear proper trekking shoes — this is non-negotiable. The paths were very muddy and slippery, especially after the rain. I slipped a couple of times, and it wasn’t just me; a few people on the tour struggled with the steep descents. If you’re confident in navigating on your own, I’d actually recommend doing the trek independently. Joining the tour means you’re following a fixed path, and they made us go all the way down into the valley, which felt unnecessarily risky in wet conditions. Yes, we did get to see waterfalls, local houses, and scenic views up close, but the descent was honestly a bit dangerous. At the end of the trek, things got a little uncomfortable — an aunty who followed us the whole way started pushing us to give extra tips and tried to sell souvenirs at a much higher price. It felt quite forced, so just be prepared and firm if you’re not interested. 🌧 Day 1: The morning in Sapa greeted us with heavy rain, so instead of heading out as planned, we decided to unwind and enjoy a relaxing massage at the hotel — a spontaneous change that turned out to be surprisingly pleasant. By the afternoon, the rain had stopped. We visited Cat Cat Village, taking a peaceful stroll through the serene landscape and exploring the rich cultural heritage of the H’Mong people. Later, we had a delightful experience picking fresh, juicy plums straight from the trees — sweet, crisp, and as refreshing as the mountain air itself. ⛰ Day 2: No trip to Sapa would be complete without a journey to the top of Fansipan – the Roof of Indochina. We purchased a round-trip combo ticket that included both the cable car and the Muong Hoa mountain train. As the cable car glided above the clouds, the view was absolutely breathtaking — a sea of drifting mist, majestic mountains, and a sense of being embraced by nature itself. Although it was summer, the weather at over 3,000 meters was chilly and windy, so don’t forget to bring a warm jacket. Staying warm is essential to fully enjoy the beauty up there without catching a cold. 🏨 Recommended Hotels: • Lady Hill (great service, quiet atmosphere, stunning views) • KK Hotel (central location) 🍴 Must-Try Restaurants: • Vua Ca Hoi (King of Salmon – fresh fish and various delicious dishes) • Seoul Restaurant (authentic Korean food in the heart of Sapa) 📌 Helpful Tips: • Always check the weather forecast, but don’t worry too much if it says rain. Sapa’s weather tends to be quick showers followed by clear skies, and the fog usually lifts quickly. • When visiting Fansipan, be sure to bring a jacket, even in summer. The high altitude and strong winds can make it feel much colder, and staying warm will help you avoid getting sick. #summervacay Sapa was a total surprise find while planning my trip — known as the “Eastern Alps” 🏔️. Didn’t have the budget for Switzerland 🇨🇭, so this was the perfect affordable alternative! 💸✨ The town is small, and all the main sights are scattered around Sa Pa Square, so everything’s super walkable 🚶♀️🚶♂️ and convenient. Not enough!! Ordered another chicken menu. It's like steamed chicken with ginger. Oh my god, it's half a chicken. 55555 I couldn't finish anything because it was so much and so delicious. . - Turning In Bar Jicha 🍻 Stopped by for a sip of sparkling water to warm up. That makes it difficult to see Fansipan on a clear day! 📍Sapa Lake - A place where you can take a picture of your life with European-style architecture as the background. It is quite large, so it was good for a walk.🩵 📍TTTM Sun Plaza - The center of Sapa. Starting from here, there are many restaurants, cafes, and massage shops! 📍Lao Chai & Ta Van Village - A mecca for trekkers. Having been to Sapa before, we were excited to return and delve deeper into its natural beauty and cultural treasures. This second trip enabled us to discover some lesser-known yet equally stunning spots that we highly recommend to anyone visiting. We started our day at O Quy Ho Pass, also known as Heaven’s Gate, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range. As the sun rose, the mist slowly lifted, revealing layers of mountains bathed in golden light. This spot is perfect for dramatic landscape photography 📸 I’d recommend arriving by 5:30 AM ⛅️ to catch the sunrise. 📍Highway 4D, O Quy Ho Commune, Sapa, Lao Cai Province After sunrise, we visited Ta Phin Village, home to the Red Dao ethnic minority. We explored the traditional stilt houses, lush rice terraces, and the Ta Phin Monastery ruins. The vibrant red costumes of the locals provided beautiful contrasts in our photos 📸 Around 8 AM–10 AM is the best time to visit when the light highlights the details of the rice fields and village life. 📍Ta Phin Commune, Sapa, Lao Cai Province Mid-morning, we returned to Cat Cat Village, a charming village known for its cascading waterfalls and traditional Black Hmong culture. We trekked along the scenic pathways and captured stunning photos of locals weaving textiles, as well as the picturesque Cat Cat Waterfall. Arrive around 10:30 AM to avoid crowds and enjoy great lighting for portraits 📸 📍Cat Cat Village, San Sa Ho Commune, Sapa, Lao Cai Province We also headed to Topas Ecolodge, a luxurious retreat perched on a hill with 360-degree views of the surrounding rice terraces. The serene ambiance and infinity pool overlooking the mountains made it one of the most photogenic spots on our trip. I’d recommend trying their Vietnamese set menu while soaking in the view. 📍Thanh Kim Commune, Sapa, Lao Cai Province We also explored the Silver Waterfall, where the cascading water glistens in the sunlight. We hiked up to the viewing platform for sweeping views of the waterfall and the lush forest below. Arriving at 3 PM gave us soft and golden light, which added a magical touch to our photos 📸 📍Highway 4D, San Sa Ho Commune, Sapa, Lao Cai Province To end our day, we took the cable car 🚠 to Fansipan Peak, the highest mountain ⛰️ in Indochina. Watching the sunset from the summit was an unforgettable experience, with clouds rolling over the peaks and the sky painted in hues of orange and pink. This is a must-visit for landscape and panoramic shots 📸 Arrive by 4:30 PM to catch the golden hour and sunset at 5:30 PM. 📍Fansipan Legend Cable Car Station, Sapa, Lao Cai Province This second trip to Sapa was even more magical than our first. It's a spot worth seeing (although it is a paid facility) Photo on Oct 7th 2024 Moana Sapa is a kind of film studio and also well-known as a "Little Bali" for Instagram photo spots, situated in Sapa city, the northen Vietnam. There are a lot of artistic and instagram worthy photo spots and monuments like the Bali Heaven Gate Replica (2nd photo) and Moana Girl Statue (1st photo). During my days in Sapa, I was almost always immersed in the joy of hiking. Walking through the mountains and forests, breathing in the fresh air, I felt both physically and mentally refreshed. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with terraced fields, waterfalls, and villages, each spot was astonishing. At night, gazing at the starry sky, the stars seemed within reach. Overall, this trip felt very pleasant.

This is a place that sells fruits to tourists honestly at the regular price without cheating on the price in Sapa. They sell a variety of fruits, from mangoes to peaches and dragon fruit, and they cut them for you to eat.
