The Ancient Gatehouse & Rugantino Restaurant

我非常喜歡這家酒店的周邊環境，完全是中世紀的風格，門口有一家修道院，可以參觀，非常壯觀。還有一個類似城堡的古建築，周邊有護城河，河裡有天鵝。房間需要爬樓梯上樓，樓梯很有趣。早餐是點餐制。非常好吃。有麪包香腸炒蛋。還有培根。還有布萊克布丁。車可以停在門口。我們是晚上9點到的，第2天10:00走的。這段時間沒有收費。我如果再去wells,還會選擇這家酒店。感謝店家的熱情款待！令人賓至如歸。

Beautiful, comfortable, welcoming. Had to leave the hotel we had booked and got in here at last minute. Walked into the room looked out of the window and said wow. Cathedral right there. Stunning. And then noticed how lovely the room was. And so comfortable. Yes it's about 600 years old. It was a fortified gate house for some time. Corridors are narrow. It's above a restaurant. No staff around after 6 . Who cares! Wells is full of places to eat. Will happily return to the Ancient Gatehouse. Loved it .

Great all around - friendly staff, wonderful location, good food. Ancient building with rustic atmosphere. The old lock on the door to our room malfunctioned, Nicky & Andy accommodated us with a free drink while we waited for repairs. The owner Nick gave us a discounted price. Cathedral view out the window, walking distance to everything. Buses to Cheddar & Bath. The down side, which is the same all over Wells, was weak/intermittent Wi-Fi connection. Highly recommended. The hotel was very clean, warm and comfortable. I spoke to many staff members during the stay and everyone was completely helpful, friendly and had time for a conversation. I was fortunate to get a room with an amazing view of Wells Cathedral. It was an ideal location. The hotel description on the booking site was accurate and the hotel sent additional reminder emails regarding parking and the hotel’s unique stairs. So there were no surprises. I felt fortunate to have stayed in such an historic hotel with all its quirks. I hope to stay again in the future.

Very disappointing- the restaurant was closed on Wednesday when we arrived and the reception shut early. There were no facilities other than in the bedroom. The bed was impressive but very small for two.

A lovely experience in the Ancient Gatehouse hotel. The room was very comfortable, with windows overlooking the glorious cathedral. breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful. We also ate two evenings in the restaurant, which was delicious. And a beautiful patio with cathedral views was a perfect place for a pre-dinner drink. A charming place to stay.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay - the room was beautiful with a charming feeling. We had a view of the cathedral which was stunning and changed with the change in light. Great location and the staff were so friendly - I'd fully recommend for a short stay.

After receiving my key and directions to my room, I was amazed at the steepness of the stairs. In the States we would call that a ladder. But the room was clean and comfortable and the attached restaurant was brilliant. The cathedral and the green were visible from my suite. It was the perfect place to stay.
