We booked one night dinner, bed and breakfast in the four poster bed room. Dated bathroom but beautiful comfy bed and well equipped bedroom (as are all the Coaching Inn properties) . The dinner was amazing and was pleasantly surprised at breakfast to see that there was a full hot and cold buffet as well as the usual menu, we've stayed in many Coaching Inn properties and this was a first for us, nice touch. We found the service a little slow at dinner and breakfast but this wasn't a reflection on the serving staff rather the fact there didn't seem many of them! As all of this chain of hotels, situated in a perfect location with so much to see and do in the surrounding areas. The only let down really is the car park, on arrival all the spaces were taken up, so little spaces for the amount of rooms. However we had anticipated this and researched car parking, we parked at nearby Waitrose for 24 hours for a small fee, so wasn't a major issue for us All in all we had a fabulous relaxing stay at this hotel, enjoyed exploring Wells and would definitely return.

We have stayed here before in the stunning city of Wells and the previous time I gave it 5 out of 5 but this time, sadly not. On the plus side, the hotel with it's associated bar and restaurant is stunning. Really classy in a great central location. The room itself was huge with everything you need in it - and seeing as we stayed during 35+ temperatures, the air con was very much appreciated. Breakfast was a buffet style thing which personally I think could do with having a bit more room to negotiate, but was very nice - all piping hot and continually refreshed. A really nice team working there, very helpful and friendly. The location is very central, everything within a short walk -- the cathedral, Vicar's Close and a plethora of pubs, cafes and shops. The one star loss was due to the car park. The last time I stayed there I was impressed by the size of it, hence why I didn't hesitate to book it again. However, upon arrival I discovered that over half the car park was taken over by a car convention. This, on it's own, is not an issue - however I wasn't informed about it beforehand or I would have researched other places to park. The team did help out with other places to park but considering it cost £446 for two nights BnB out of the holiday season - they shouldn't really have to be doing that...

Excellent breakfast and warm plates to put it on but if you are in the anex like we were if it rains you need a mack to get to it. Room comfortable excellent shower. Staff friendly and make excellent cocktails.

My husband & I stayed here for my birthday & the staff were amazing. Barbra the manager was superb, always makes us feel very special, always goes above and beyond. Even left me a birthday card in our room from the whole team. Which was a lovely touch. The food was delicious & service excellent. This is our second stay in this hotel, our view of the cathedral from our room was spectacular. Room itself was lovely decor, clean & tidy. Very inviting. Definitely recommend. 5 out of 5 stars

We had a fantastic time at the Swan hotel in Wells , we had a four poster bed and a brilliant view overlooking the Cathedral. The Swan team were very attentive and professional nothing was to much trouble. Experience relies on which room you are allocated. We were in room 6 which was an awful experience, absolutely no sound proofing, we could hear everything in the room above, and had very little sleep as a result. I note this issue has already been identified by previous customers. Parking - the hotel need to clearly state when booking that unless you arrive early there will be no car parking space and also note the distance to park your car away from the hotel. Parking is located 10-15 minutes walk away, if you have no luggage, not much of a problem, if you do ( plus a dog) it’s tricky and time consuming dropping off luggage, parking, then doing the same in reverse when leaving. Overall we had a poor experience, and will not return.
