A comfortable bedroom room, in a charming old historical house, at a convenient location for seeing family nearby, I can't fault it. Thank you.

Our stay at this hotel left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. While I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid it entirely, I can't recommend it or see myself returning. The room, advertised as having a king-size bed, disappointingly turned out to be a double. Despite the hotel's emphasis on green choices, the room was unbearably warm upon arrival. We had to open both the windows and the door just to cool it down. This lack of basic comfort seemed counterintuitive to their eco-conscious branding. Furthermore, small but crucial amenities were absent, such as a hairdryer, and some lights weren't working. The absence of an in-room phone meant there was no easy way to request these missing items, adding to the overall inconvenience. The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The so-called buffet consisted of a small, albeit pleasant, continental breakfast. However, being asked immediately upon arrival if we'd like to pay an additional £10 for a cooked breakfast made the setup feel misleading. At £14.50, the continental breakfast alone did not feel like good value.  The restaurant also had a notice about a £2.50 charge for menu amendments. While I understand the principle of upcharges, this particular policy felt excessive and off-putting. These issues were compounded by a lack of personal touches that form the foundation of good customer service. No one asked at checkout or during breakfast how our stay had been, a small but impactful gesture that could have mitigated some of our disappointments. In hindsight, I feel I overpaid by about 20-30% compared to the value I received. Knowing what I do now, I likely wouldn't have chosen this hotel for our stay.

Lovely setting but very poor facilities. We were directed to eat out - a list of restaurants was provided but no telephone numbers - as there was only one chef that evening and they were busy in the restaurant. We were back before 8 pm, having eaten out early. There were three guests eating in the restaurant. The one chef must have been exhausted that evening! We sat with a drink but only for a short time as once the restaurant guests had finished - before 8.30 pm - the music was turned off and it was made clear that the one visible employee was ready to finish. Continental breakfast only. Very poor. Wouldn’t stay there again.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in making my celebration on Saturday so special. From the planning and organisation with Courtney beforehand to Joe and his waiting staff looking after us throughout the day and evening, everything was exceptional. Everyone was so friendly, professional and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. They made sure everything ran seamlessly from start to finish, allowing me to relax and enjoy such a special day with my family and friends. The venue was beautiful, everything was so well organised, and we’ve had so many lovely comments from our guests about the food, the service and the wonderful atmosphere. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to Courtney, Joe and the whole team. They all worked incredibly hard and helped create memories that we’ll treasure for years to come.

Lovely hotel for a 2 night stopover The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, we had a problem with the hot water but they were straight on it to resolve the issue and even offered us a different room to shower in. We did not have breakfast so unable to comment, however our evening meal was excellent especially the fresh homemade pizza with goats cheese and caramelised onion and wild garlic from their garden. The gardens were lovely to have a little walk around Would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend

This hotel is a hidden gem. This was our second stay at this property and it was just as good as our first stay almost 2 years ago. Unfortunately, we stayed on a Sunday night so it was very quiet but that didn't spoil anything. We stayed in a superior double room, which was lovely, very spacious, and very reasonably priced. Dinner was extremely good and also reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel was nice and clean but clearly being run on a shoestring. The person on reception, was also the one behind the bar, also taking food orders and then delivering the food. The heating in the room went off early evening, which then made the room chill down very quickly; this did make me smile, I thought another cost saving!! Sadly there was no cooked breakfast in the morning because they did not want to pay for a chef and then no one on reception at checkout as they only manned it after 10am. The pluses were the staff I did speak to were good, the room was clean and comfortable and the views were lovely. So not all negative, hence 3 stars.

Friendly staff, heating system is old as expected which causes extremes of hot and cold in both heating and water. Staff kindly lent a heater when the heating system was not working. Very beautiful hotel.

This is a lovely old building. The rooms are very comfortable and the bed is superb for a good nights sleep. Set just outside town, a short taxi ride in and out, it was very quiet and ample safe parking. The Dinner was very good (Belly pork) and you must try the garlic and cheese bread, it is huge like a pizza and far more than we expected. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they made our stay a memorable one. Thank you very much. I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
