It was very disappointed stay. The building was old but good looking  from outside, good location and quiet but the rest was bad experienced. The bed cover looks like it hasn’t been change ,it’s wrinkly and it’s getting chilly at night so we took the duvet under the chair there’s no cover and few marks or stained on it. There’s no headboard, no hanging wardrobes. No curtains on the other side windows. The TV has very bad reception,lagging all the time , cannot watch any news in the morning. Breakfast was ok but we have to call the in charge staff as there’s no water in the kettle or thermos we cannot get water around . Only marmalade that we can have for toast, he said the strawberry jam he dropped accidentally.  We cannot found any staff at night nor cannot call as we don’t have it on  hand and tired already,so we just get on what was there but I wouldn’t recommend to any of my family and friends.

It is good to have 3 beds available. The bathroom is big enough to accommodate both shower unit and bath tub. The water supply and the temperature are under good control. There are plenty of storage in the room. We appreciate the availability of breakfast.

This hotel maybe different in the summer but for this trip in November it’s a damp, cold,run down and looks unloved. The reception is unbelievably unmanned till 16.00 hrs to 19.00hours. There’s is cold water swimming pool and a dingy dark room gym which can NOT be used unless the reception is open, which means you can only use the facilities for 3hours. My room was cold, radiator didn’t work but had a heater on the side which worked. Carpet was very very dirty and heavily l stained. I did even feel comfortable walking in my socks. Water was cold. After two cold showers, I had to wait for reception to open at 16.00 to ask Richard to do something about it. By the way there are no other staff or soul to be seen on site. The place seemed abundant and very much on your own. With water fixed, I was able to have hot shower I booked three nights. I got my breakfast the first morning and I arranged with the “chef” for my breakfast the next morning at an arranged time. I came down to a dark kitchen, no light , no sign of life. Nothing in the dining area. So I left for work without food which I had paid for. I came back from work after 8.30pm so the reception was closed and no one was around which meant I couldn’t arrange for breakfast again. So I paid for three breakfast but only got one. No phones to reception in the room. No emergency numbers. I did wonder what happens if there was an emergency or fire? The grounds are very rundown and neglected I would not stay here again

Hotel is average for 1 night stay and value for money considering breakfast included in price and the location of the hotel from the high street. Lots of creaky noises in the room and hotel room like a maze with lots of entry /exit restrictions makes it an average stay inspite of the nice swimming pool and gym. Staff - very polite and helpful including the restaurant staff.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Fieldways Hotel sehr genossen. Das Haus hat viel Charakter und Charme und hebt sich angenehm von modernen, austauschbaren Hotels ab. Besonders schön finden wir, dass es sich um ein älteres Gebäude mit Geschichte handelt – solche Orte haben für uns eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre. Die Lage ist wunderschön und trägt dazu bei, dass man sich schnell wohlfühlt und entspannen kann. Insgesamt hatten wir einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt und haben uns dort gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Wer historische Gebäude und Unterkünfte mit Persönlichkeit zu schätzen weiß, wird Fieldways sicherlich mögen. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können das Hotel gerne weiterempfehlen. 😊

The first time I have felt compelled to write a trip advisor review. Shown to a freezing cold room with no heating, no curtains and exposed wires on the walls for lights. Rang the night porter who response was what do you want me to do you can always give me the keys and leave. Then found black mold in the shower so I booked myself into the Premier Inn down the road and did leave. What a disgusting moldy and neglected dump of a hotel this is.

Booked the night before due to issues with accommodation we had booked & we were not disappointed! Our experience didn’t match the negative reviews we ready after we arrived. Loved the mansion experience with the quirky as you would expect look. Loved our room which was clean, new carpet & a loving balcony room. We paid for breakfast which was lovely continental type. Enjoyed chatting to the other guests whose experience was positive like ours. We were room 4 & would love to stay there again. The tv didn’t work which I think may be Ariel issues but we just used our phones for the short time as we fight intend to spend much time in the room. We caught a uber to Canal tavern which was only £10 & had a lovely meal in a great location.

Good location friendly, clean, the air-conditioning was amazing in the gym! Room well appointed amazing building full of character you only see in tourist attractions yet you get to say here at a bargin price! Lovely place highly recommend
