The Green

A huge and heartfelt thank you to all at The Green. Truly beautiful, a home from home and hosted by the most amazing and generous people. We hope to visit again very soon!

I have been lucky enough to spend a couple of dreamy days/nights at The Green in Wingfield. A wonderfully tranquil setting for an intimate family gathering, which included walks around the grounds, playing crocket on the front lawn and a game of boules under the trees in the back garden. I stayed in a beautifully presented dual aspect room overlooking the long drive and croquet area on one side and across open fields on the other. The room had high ceilings, a huge en-suite with rain-head shower as well as a roll-topped bath - sheer bliss to relax in at the end of a long day! The comfortable and grand bed made falling asleep on a warm summer's evening very easy, despite wanting to soak up the grandeur of the occasion. The sun, bird songs and a gentle breeze welcomed in the next morning ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits, pastries and cooked options. Aurelius, Claire and Julian really have put their love and hearts into every detail making the stay a truly luxurious one at this historical country house. From design and decoration to delicious catering and warm welcome. The experience was fabulous! Thank you.

A perfect stay in a perfect place! We read an article in the Times and loved the idea of a luxury B and B in a part of the UK we know and love . We were so enchanted by everything at The Green . Claire and Aurelius were charming and attentive hosts. The house has been decorated with love, panache and vision. The secluded, mature grounds are delightful too . Our room was divine, spacious and elegant and the breakfasts delicious. We had multiple conversations with our patient hosts ( sorry to distract you both from your duties! ) We can see ourselves returning later this year and on an ongoing basis as we had such a wonderful and memorable stay and The Green represents exactly what we seek from a weekend in the country. Thank you both very much!

We enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful night here. Aurelius and Claire could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Our room was perfect - beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and shower. Plenty of spaces downstairs to sit and relax, and the grounds are also worth exploring. A delicious breakfast too. We will be staying again.

Our stay at The Green was wonderful. Our hosts, Aurelius and Claire, were so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is beautiful and set in lovely grounds. Our breakfast was delicious with a great choice. Our room was extremely comfortable and clean. The location is perfect for visiting local towns, historic gardens, shops and places to eat. We will definitely be returning!!

The most stunning place, exquisitely presented and a feast for the eyes and the soul, aesthetically so much beauty in each room and in each piece of furniture, picture, cushion, wall colour, book, nothing is superfluous and everything is placed with such care and harmony. The owners Claire and Aurelius (and Julian) have really created something truly special at The Green. The attention to detail of our welcome and our well being while staying was outstanding, and articulated with ease and care. Aurelius made gluten free scones for our arrival, a lit fire in the lounge welcomed us, and we had the freedom of the entire house and gardens which are so very beautiful. The wildlife that visits the gardens is wonderful, a hare came by, a sparrow hawk and plenty of other beautiful birds too. Our room was just stunning, we chose The Mulberry room and will return to try the other rooms too, without any doubt that they will all deliver to the same high standard of excellence with their own personality. We slept so well, all the linens are high thread count and luxurious, a choice of natural or man made fibres as your preference... heaven. Breakfast was stunning and felt so relaxed, a full English breakfast (gluten free) with lots of options alongside, we felt spoilt and so well looked after. We will be back to stay without any doubt and highly recommend a stay, you will LOVE it and Claire and Aurelius too, what wonderful hosts. Thank you!
