1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

The hotel itself, rooms and location are absolutely top notch! And the top restaurant and bar food was super nice and tasty! Views are stunning. However, our checkin experince was the worst I have ever seen in any hotel ever. I booked a room at 9am for the same day and up until 8:30 PM we could not check in. Nothing was offered to us by the receptionist, not even a free drink or water at the bar or so while we waited with our luggage and watched people eat in the booked out restaurants. This checkin experience was not worthy of a hotel in that price range and class and initially spoiled the 5 night stay we had.

Hotel was very clean and nice but a bit overpriced All employees were fabulous Food was too expensive and we mostly ate elsewhere.

The 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is a beautiful hotel located in one of the most extraordinary places on earth. Its views of Hanalei Bay and the Na Pali coast are breathtaking, and you get to experience them in virtually every room and while dining at the resort’s two main dining areas. From our room, we watched surfers in Hanalei Bay, the light shifting over the Na Pali coast and whales breaching in the ocean below. Breakfast was amazing (perhaps the best breakfast buffet we have ever had), as was the New Year’s buffet dinner and dining on creative sushi dishes and edamame at Welina Terrace while watching the sunset. There were thoughtful touches in every room, including lovely room key bracelets to decrease waste at hotel, personal water filter stations in each room and little surprises each night (like local chocolates etc). The facilities including the pool, spa and gym are top notch. We stayed there in the winter which is theoretically the “off-season,” but it was wonderful, and we were so happy to have stayed there/in the north, where the landscapes are unparalleled. The location and hotel are magical. We can’t wait to come back.

We splurged and decided to stay 9 days at The 1. 100% my decision to book and pay $25,000 for 9 days yes. But went you spend this type of money I think is reasonable to expect the best of the best in all categories when staying. As we arrive we were greeted with a Traditinal Hawaiian Kukui Nut Lei, nice touch, but the bellman was ripping open the made in china Amazon box as we stood there watching to try to pull 2 out to hand us….. Hotel is a vibe for sure, views are u real. But the service and any sense of feeling special or haven't an expierence outside of staying at any other nice hotel just didn’t happen. We booked a suite which was in a long dark hallway that shared the same path that all of the carts, employees, tools, etc shared. Constant noise and the hallway was filthy. Just not what you Expect when staying in a suite. Service came to the room some days some days not, we had to ask the front desk to have the room made up. As far as using their concierge service to book any activities, yes, they are glad to book them for you, but they only recommend their preferred vendors which is fine. I booked an $1700 helicopter ride. When the lady printed out the form for me to sign for the charge, there was a tip line insisting that we tipped 15 to 25% on the 1700. I told her I would be tipping the pilot in cash in person. Then she went to uncomfortably notify me that that tip is for her and was expecting us to tip around $200-400 Just for her booking our flight online, which took all the five minutes…. It’s that typical being stared at uncomfortable moment Of what to do which you should never experience that at a hotel like this…. I only tipped $25 because of this. After that happened, the reps demeanor completely changed. I even made a contact with her for the next four or five days after she booked it and not once did she say hello or even smile she even went out of her way to look down. This would probably be a good hotel to stay At maybe three nights total just to experience the location and the hotel but I 100% will not recommend staying any longer than this to anyone.

1Hotel Hanalei Bay really delivered, my family and I had one of the most luxurious and adventurous vacations ever. This was our last trip together before my oldest leaves for college this summer and I just can’t say enough about this hotel. Every detail, every staff interaction and every bite was memorable. One standout performer for us before, during and post stay was our guest relations/concierge contact from the 1Hotel, Vincent Barnett. Vincent single handedly performed miracles on a daily basis making, changing and recommending plans as we navigated weather and 3 teenagers who couldn’t make up their minds. Staff members like Melyssa (check-in), Noriah (food server), Ari (food and beverage manager), Christian (front desk manager) really showed me how 1 hotels elevate their brand. Their customer service is second to none, such great people. The entire property is incredible. But these incredible staff members above really made sure I was taken care of and it’s why I will continue to go to every 1 hotel property. They should seriously be promoted, or at the very least celebrated by the 1 hotel team as they really make the experience unforgettable.
