Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Portage la Prairie

Perfect hotel for families, even having a waterslide in house. Near to a few good check-in locations such as the biggest Owl in Canada or the biggest Coca-Cola bottle.

Second time staying at this particular Microtel and had a great experience just like the first time! Highly recommend staying at Microtel.

Very friendly staff who were welcoming upon arrival. The room was clean and comfortable, everything you could ask for. I liked the location on the highway so I could get back on the road right away.

Great stay. No issues

We checked in expecting a standard stay and ended up dealing with a genuinely unsanitary room. There was mould growing under the caulking around the entire base of the shower, and our room was infested with ladybugs coming in through a back door at the end of the hallway — we were pulling them off the walls and bedding all night. When we went down to the front desk to report it, the night shift staff member greeted us rudely and showed zero concern — no apology, no offer to move us, nothing. We ended up rolling up towels to block the gap under the door ourselves and spent 1-2 hours vacuuming bugs out of the room before we could even think about sleeping. The next morning, after explaining all of this again, the only resolution offered was waiving the $25 pet fee. That's it. A $25 credit for mould, an insect infestation, and a staff member who couldn't be bothered to care when we flagged it at midnight. This isn't a one-off cleanliness slip — it's a maintenance and pest control issue the hotel clearly knows about, given how the staff reacted (or didn't). Would not stay here again, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone travelling with family or pets. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Love this hotel!, Beautiful river view, no highway noise, modern and clean, friendly staff, great pool and fitness center, the included breakfast has a variety of choices and all very good, the best part is the room, soft sheets, great pillows and comfortable bed!..all at an amazing affordable price, zero complaints..

Overall, we had a good stay. The hotel was clean, and the pool area was very nice. Our kids had a great time and really enjoyed it. The biggest issue was the Wi-Fi. We were never able to connect the TV to the hotel’s internet. We asked for help several times, but the problem was never fixed, so we had to use our phone’s mobile hotspot during our entire stay. The staff was a mix of experiences. Only two employees were truly friendly and helpful. Most of the others did not seem very welcoming. We also felt the hotel was understaffed, as there never seemed to be enough employees available to assist guests. We stayed for two nights. Breakfast on the first morning was good and had more options than on the second morning. Unfortunately, there were no waffles available to make, and there was no fresh fruit, so we had to buy our own fruit for breakfast the next day. One thing we really appreciated was being able to use the breakfast area in the evening to enjoy a pizza we had purchased. It was also nice that complimentary coffee was available at all times. Overall, we enjoyed our stay because the hotel was clean and the pool was great for families. However, improving the Wi-Fi support, breakfast selection, and customer service would make the experience much better.

This hotel is the newest, and nicest, in Portage la Prairie. It is located on the Long Plain First Nation, right on the southwest side of Crescent Lake. It is visible from the Trans-Canada Highway. They keep this hotel up very nicely. The rooms are newer, nice and spacious, the pool and hot tub are great, and the breakfast in the morning is really good, what they have available. I have now stayed at all three main hotels in Portage la Prairie, and this is the best one hands down.

Stayed here with several other family members for a wedding nearby. Our room was wonderful, the staff were friendly and we had a great time. Breakfast was very good. I realized after I left I had left an item behind. I was able to get in touch with the hotel right away and they found my item and were holding it until my family could pick it up. Would stay again!
