Holiday Inn Express MORGANTOWN by IHG

The front desk was friendly. The lady in the kitchen is not friendly at all. Cleanliness is not top notch. Fixtures badly need some help.

Good enough. The linens were clean, the floor was clean. The hotel was renovated a few years ago, and I would have to say the whatever contractor they hired did a shoddy job. There were lots of rough edges. It’s fitting that this hotel is in a college town because the work done to the room evokes the classic Morgantown “landlord special.” That said, we booked the handicap accessible room because my dad has mobility issues, and it was very well equipped for his needs. It had a full walk-in shower with stability bars, non-slip surfaces, and a shower chair. It was also located on the first floor right by a side door which made it so much easier for him to get to and from the car. The breakfast was really good by continental breakfast standards. We really enjoyed the warm cinnamon rolls. We didn’t use the office, gym, or pool, but they seemed fine. We would stay here again.

I had a handicap bathroom, but the roll in shower had no grab bars. There was one by the toilet, but none in the shower? Also, the person on the desk at check out was really not pleasant. Overall, I would say a C at best.

Staff was friendly...room was clean....breakfast was good....now for the negatives....room (#214) is showing its age...several pieces of furniture need replaced...chair/couch type had a broken spring...bed was very "lumpy"....would consider staying again but would also look at other alternatives.

No soap in the shower. rugs on the steps were tore up. no towles in the weight room. The room was fine and the bathroom also. Breakfast was good there wre a couple of places to ear within walking distance.

We like this chain, this was definitely one of the older ones we have stayed at. Staff was working hard though, cleaning up outside after a downpour. Just older property, still clean and their standard breakfast. Quiet on a Saturday night.

l've stayed at so many HG properties over the years and I come back because I have come to expect a certain standard. A Holiday Inn Express isn't the fanciest hotel, but I have learned to expect a clean and comfortable stay. This one was striking out everywhere. It's clear that they've tried to do some renovations, but there are lots of important details missing like towel bars in the bathroom and places to plug devices in on the night stand. Honestly, if these cosmetic things were the only issue, l'd give it 4 stars and call it a day. Unfortunately, it's obvious pretty quickly that there's a cleanliness issue. Or perhaps a reno job gone bad? There were tons of questionable spots on the carpets and the tile floor, some even looked like mold near the base boards. The room smelled very musty upon entering as well. There were also some gaps at the room door! had to fill or cover with towels or paper towels to ensure privacy. To top it all off, I took probably the quickest shower ever because of the grimy shower curtain and the family of spiders on the ceiling. I don't even blame the housekeeper team. When I was out and about I saw just the one cleaner. Call me crazy, but 3 floors of rooms plus common areas is too many for 1 person, even 2, if we assume she had a coworker on the clock with her. All my linens were at least clean and the staff were professional and kind, so I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1.

The room was clean and appeared newly renovated. The AC did not work properly, this was disappointing. The snack area was very low on choices.
