Holiday Inn Express & Suites KINSTON by IHG

My stay at this hotel serve this purpose well. I like that. It had a gym for light exercise workout. The location was convenient for my holiday weekend. The continental breakfast was simple, yet tasty. Overall, my nice stay went well.

I travel monthly for work and can honestly say this was one of the worst and most unprofessional hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Prior to the cancellation deadline, I called the hotel to adjust my reservation from Thursday–Sunday to Friday–Sunday because my daughter had exams and we would miss the first game of the tournament we were attending. When I called, the front office staff stated there was a system issue and told me to contact reservations because they were “too busy” to assist. The reservations representative was very kind and helpful. They documented my account showing that I called before the deadline and advised me to contact the manager the next day because they were also unable to make the change due to an issue involving the Apple Pay payment selection. When I called the manager the next day and attempted to explain that reservations had documented my prior call, I was immediately interrupted and told, “Can you let me talk please? I was here and you did not call.” Basically, I was treated as if I was lying and told I would be charged anyway. Ironically, when I arrived later that evening (since I was being charged regardless), the front desk staff apologized and confirmed they remembered me calling. The manager’s attitude and lack of professionalism were completely unacceptable. Customer service, communication, and basic professionalism clearly need improvement. To make matters worse, there was no housekeeping during the stay. Guests had to bring their dirty towels downstairs just to receive replacements. After doing so, we were only given one towel and one hand towel — no washcloths at all. Needless to say, I checked out early on Saturday and will not be returning. There are far too many hotels that value their guests and provide professional customer service to waste time and money on an experience like this.

I booked a standard room with a king sized bed for my wife and myself. At the last minute our daughter came with us. I asked the hotel attendant during check-in if he could change my room to a room with two queen beds instead. He indeed changed our room to a double queen room and even let us check-in early.

Property was in good condition the place was clean friendly staff we were only here for the night and had no issues

Hotel was clean but a little dated. Biggest issue was front desk clerk. Went to request an extra towel for my wife to dry her hair, only 2 towels for 2 guests, and was treated with a rude attitude. Wanted me to turn in my used towels for exchange. This I understand in some locations, but this was supposedly a “nicer” place of business. Reported employee to management the next morning and they just shrugged it off with no offer of apology or any mention of taking it up with the night staff

My room could have been cleaner, the hallway was incredibly warm compared to other areas, the frobt desk staff wasn’t helpful with the noise from other guest.

This was my first time staying at the Holiday Inn Express and I must say that the staff were very friendly and the facility smelled so good. My room was ready at the time of arrival and it was very clean!! I enjoyed the breakfast and the parking lot was well lit when I came back after my night out enjoying family!! Will I be staying again absolutely!!!

My experience happened on July 19th and 20th. I will be returning to Kinston in the next couple weeks for an overnight stay. My experience at the Holiday Inn was so sad that actually I am just putting a review in now. I expressed my complaints to the hotel staff who was supposed to have management call me... unfortunately never happened. When I got ready to retire for bed which was late around 11:30 my sheets were gritty and hair stained. It was as if someone had gone to the beach and got into bed without taking a shower. That would indicate that the sheets may have been on more than one visit. The person at the front desk was very kind and was changing my sheets on my king size bed at 12:00 a.m. She was very kind and very apologetic. No excuse! Photos of the breakfast were absolutely atrocious and should have gone to the trash. It was as if the person who put it out didn't care and her attitude was even poorer. I did complain about the breakfast to the person who was responsible on that weekend for customer care. She also took pictures and said that she would report it to management because it was inexcusable. How can you serve overcooked, dried out, poorly prepared food. The pancake machine wasn't working as a last resort of some type of decent breakfast. Pictures are posted. I did put a complaint in on company's site but never got a response. The person preparing the food had a very poor attitude and made a complaint to me that I heard that somebody's been complaining about my service. I said yes as they should... At this rate it was just easier to just chalk it up to a terrible experience and I wanted to completely put it far out of my mind. However, returning back to Kinston for this next trip coming up brought up emotions in me that I thought I had put behind me. Actually I think I'm as irritated now as I was then and actually did not put it behind me at all because I should not feel this way. No management call. No response to my complaint.... I hope the pictures are viewable and this was a total of 2 days so after the first complaint, the second day was even worse. Still very irritated at the lack of effort all around!

FRIENDLY STAFF AND VERY CLOSE TO VARIOUS SHOPPING AND FOOD LOCATIONS! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
