Fort Pontchartrain Detroit, a Wyndham Hotel

The check in was friendly and fast. Coco was real nice and even made sure our group had rooms on the same floor. The hotel is right next to the convention center and offers a great river view. It is valet parking only and the staff was pretty fast getting our vehicle. We asked about EV charging and he told us it was available but when we needed it, another different person said he couldn't charge our car. The rooms are clean and refrigerator was nice and cold, bed is comfortable. My desk did not have a lamp or adequate lighting so it was hard to see what I was doing. TV is a Roku and there are many options. I did the Live TV and did not need to login and there were lots of shows or news to watch. The place is not very sound proof and we can hear loud motorcycles or water running through the pipes at night. The 25th floor restaurant offers a spectacular view of the riverfront. Check out had a minor glitch and the bellhop called and informed us all their luggage carts were being used. They were still nice and the checkout process was a breeze with Lisa. In summary, we have a great stay. The location is convenient and close to great restaurants.

Front Desk Representative: Mrs. Fee B. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness 10 Location 10 Unlimited Convenient Parking 10 Customer Service and Friendliness 10 This is my second time here and I must say everything was right on time. There was a cheerleading tournament and a Red Wings game going on downtown the staff was quick, fast, fun and friendly. I had the honors of meeting front desk Mrs. Fee B. she was extremely thorough also welcoming after finding my room. I explained to her that I was here for my girls birthday I asked Mrs. Fee B. to give me the best room that they had near the riverfront, when I tell you she did not disappoint. I was able to check in 30 minutes early into my room in addition to that the room was extremely clean, extremely clean I will be visiting again. Thank you, to the Staff. Loved this hotel. Yaz the valet was amazing. We were 70 yr old ladies and he took cake of us like we were his family. I’ll be going back.

Although it was a strange room and it was an older hotel it was well maintained, and the staff were quite lovely. The staff were professional and kind.

Hotel was fabulous! Clean rooms and hotel! Enjoyed the staff. They were all great…from check-in to check-out and valet included. Especially enjoyed the staff at the bar on top floor bar…Patrice and Shawn…so friendly and accommodating!

The hotel is very impressive looking and everyone I met there was lovely and welcoming. Thanks to Jazz and Patrice for their hospitality and professionalism. Thankful for blackout shades to block the light from the huge LED billboard at the civic center.

My experience at Fort Pontchartrain was wonderful, and I especially want to recognize Miracle at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, she was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. She made me feel comfortable and genuinely cared about making sure I had a great experience. Miracle’s professionalism, patience, and friendly personality made a lasting impression. She went above and beyond to provide excellent service, and her attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Thank you, Miracle, for making my visit so enjoyable! Customer service like this is exactly what makes guests want to come back. Definitely a five-star experience!

Beautiful room, view unbelievable of the River, great location and excellent staff. Lost my bracelet which was an early anniversary gift.from my husband. Got a phone call Sept. 1 st which was my anniversary date and the Ponchartrain Security had my bracelet! I was so thrilled it was found and kept safe for me. Would definitely go back- the staff are honest and truly caring!

Stayed here August 26 – September 2, 2026, and the experience was a mixed bag. On the bright side, the location is genuinely excellent — hard to beat for where it sits. And two staff members truly stood out: Coco at the Front Desk was an absolute delight, and Eugene from Parking was one of the friendliest, most professional, and helpful hotel employees I've encountered. They deserve recognition. That said, the room had some real quirks. The bathroom is positioned directly across from the bed, which felt awkward and oddly laid out. The bathroom door squeaked throughout our stay, and the hallway entry doors required a hard slam just to get the lock to catch — which made for a noticeably noisy floor. Housekeeping didn't restock rooms daily, so we had to call down for supplies each time. To their credit, requests were handled promptly, but it shouldn't be necessary. The breakfast buffet was a letdown — decent enough in variety, but the food just wasn't flavorful or memorable. Overall, the Wyndham Fort Pontchartrain is a solid pick if location is your priority. Just don't go in expecting a polished, full-service experience.
