Candlewood Suites Augusta by IHG

We tried to book a room on base (Ft. Gordon) to visit with our active duty son. Called to verify the location and reservation. We were assured that it was the correct location. Arrived at the hotel on base and was told we had no reservation. Tried to call the hotel I had just spoken with and could never get an answer. Had to pay for another room at the correct location and essentially had to pay twice. Paid for a room never used because I was given bad information and one we actually stayed in. I will be booking room in person to make sure we are at the correct location to be with our son.

I finally made it to The Masters this year after securing two Wed. tickets. Months in advance I made a hotel reservation at this hotel for Tues. & Wed. nights. The reservation was thru *********** with a confirmed rate of $142 per night. After driving all day to get to Augusta, armed with a printed copy of my reservation with a confirmation number, I attempted to check into the hotel. The clerk informed me she could not honor the $142 rate, as it was Masters week and their rate was now $422. I asked to speak with the owner, who came to speak with me, and he advised that his hotel has "no contract with *********** and they were under no obligation to honor the rate. He said the rate is $422, take it or leave it." As we were tired from driving and all the other hotels were booked, we had no choice but to stay one night and pay the $422 rate. The owner tried to blame the issue on ***********, but I've used them faithfully for over 20 years and Never had any issue with them. In fact, *********** sent me a credit of $69.00 for my trouble. The $69 doesn't cover my loss, but at least they made some effort. The hotel owner refused to budge one penny on the rate. Oh and just FYI, the place is a DUMP, which I had expected, but was prepared for at the $142 rate. I noted the hotel owner occasionally answers some of the bad reviews on his hotel and tries to blame the guest or someone else. To Owner: IF you do respond and say anything other than to confirm the FACTS as written here, it's an absolute LIE folks.

I stayed there for a week, but they never came in to clean the room. It was pointless to put a "Please Clean" sign on the door or complain. I ended up staying in a dirty room.

The room was not cleaned prior to my family’s arrival. I had to change my bedding. There was a musty scent in the room. I had to clean the bathroom as well. When I asked for a refund for my last day because we were leaving early, my request was denied even with all that wasn’t done in the room. And the manager didn’t have the decency to tell me that the request was denied. She sent someone else to deny the request since she was too busy.

The room provided was unclean and the replacement room was under construction I cancelled my stay there and went elsewhere. The experience was very unpleasant.

The room was filthy and the customer service was horrible.

Customer Service is Key It was great from beginning to end. Our hostess when we checked in was Amazing, her name was Talonga or something like that I'm sorry I can't remember exact name and I should have because she was great. Thank you again for everything. I'm in customer service industry and this is how I treat my customers.

There was some kind of altercation in the parking lot outside of the hotel on 30 August and the sheriff department was called and three sheriff vehicles showed up. The TV reception in my room was not clear and there were loose floor tiles in the bathroom.

Avoid! One of the nastiest hotels I have stayed in. AC leaked all over the carpet, room wasn’t very clean, smelled like **** all over the place INSIDE. DO NOT STAY HERE
